The guidance feels even more all over the place than it used to… I think that’s why I kinda checked out, too. It’s hard to know what the right thing to do is.
And I was going to ask my primary care doctor at my upcoming checkup (in a week) but just found out she’s leaving the practice and my appt was cancelled. So now I’m in limbo, I’ve got lots of specialists but currently no PCP until they replace her. Sigh.

The immune system is more than antibodies. There are white cells and your thymus and other organs that contain “memory cells” to tell your body to get into overdrive to make antibody again. Your body “remembers” due to the nature of the mRNA vaccine.

I do that, too. My own feeling is CDC and all had to work so hard getting fence-sitters to get vaccinated–they’re not going to jerk you around when you want to do the right thing.

Wear a mask when around people and try to keep distant. Use the alcohol hand goop like Purell. That’s what we should be doing. Also wash/isolate groceries or anything brought into the house as appropriate. A little OCD in this case is a good thing.
Those who do not do these simple things assume they are immune or do not give a shit. Neither is right thinking.

Yes, but going by that you can see it as a no need for boosters situation. I know that’s been the logic of people I’ve spoken with who are tired of it all and refusing to take the boosters.
Well they’re not going to approve it till it’s ready for distribution, but I’ve no doubt they will.

Darr, I’m where you’re at, too. I still do all that stuff even though I think I’m the only person I know who does. I consider it a tradeoff for some sort of peace of mind.
oh boy I think I’m a full-on germaphobe now, never was that way before. But just feel better if I do the ocd hand washing etc. I take off my shoes before entering the house, do laundry way more than I used to and all sorts of other stuff I never used to care about. Hopefully someday we’ll be at a place where I’ll be able to drop this and go back to not caring but for now it doesn’t seem like that’s happening anytime soon.

The last I heard (an NPR article I think), we’ll be lucky if the new boosters are ready by October. Might not be until November or even later. They’re still trying to figure out how narrowly targeted vs. broad spectrum it should be, and the damn virus keeps mutating.

It may not be possible to convince people to wear masks again, I never stopped wearing one in a store. Hardly anyone in my area of So Cal wears one. Covid will be around the rest of my life. I am 73 too.

I heard of a lab working on a multiple vax. Imagine a ball with multiple flat sides. Each with mRNA adjusted to another possible variant. They are working on a version that would cover most if not all variant possibilities. In one shot. I am not sure how far along this is. But the idea is exceedingly cool to this old scientist who is very familiar with making antibodies the “old school” way.
