Biden Says He’s Open To Choosing A GOP Running Mate: ‘I’m Serious’

2020 Democratic contender Joe Biden took his campaign promise to work with Republicans to a startling new level on Monday night during a town hall event in Exeter, New Hampshire.

“You know, there are some really decent Republicans that are out there still,” Biden said. “But here’s the problem right now, of the well-known ones: They’ve got to step up.”

Which one of those decent ones are in the 89%?

This says it all for me about Biden’s executive decision making skills.

This is a classic example of how you lose control of a story because your need to hear your voice overran your better judgment, Good job, Joe.

Ladies and gentlemen, the presumptive Democratic nominee. 1. Doesn’t remember how GOP blocked everything for 8 years when he was VP, 2. thinks he can still work with them, 3. will stick his foot in his mouth daily. But hey, he’s a white man, and we have to think of those delicate old white man voters who are uncomfortable with anything that’s not an old white man.

It is a monumental gaffe to think and suggest that you could enlist a member of what is essentially a cult as a Democratic running mate.

Let’s take a deep breath and not spit out coffee all over our keyboards.

Should this actually be the case what Republican is acceptable for you?

More Flake than Graham.

Looks like we need yet another investigation. Find a “decent Republican.” There may be one hiding somewhere, could take years to hunt them.

A correct answer would be, and maybe what he wanted to say is, “Today’s GOP is completely broken and not a functional party representing the people. They used to be a party with many bad ideas, but not a criminal cult. We need to destroy the GOP so that something useful can rise from the ashes.”

Or maybe he’s just clueless and thinks some of the cult will vote for him if he kisses their asses.

Joe: I love ya but I fail to see how this gambit has ANY positive aspects to it. The Republicans don’t give a crap about what the Democrats want, and unless your administration would agree to do everything the R’s way (and that would be a disaster!) no one benefits from this. Also, do you really want to give Congressional R’s a reason to try and seek YOUR impeachment? If they truly thought they would get a Republican President out of it, you can bet they would look seriously at that…

You need to focus on ensuring as many Democrats (and Independents) vote for you as possible. Forget the Republicans!

Terribly stupid gaffe.

Correct answer: “There are something like – what? – 25 Democrats who have run for President this cycle who are better qualified than any Trumpian Republican, thanks anyway. We have a very deep bench of amazing candidates who will serve this country before serving themselves, so if I have the honor of representing the Democratic Party this cycle, I’ll pick someone for Vice President who will reflect our values and our voters.”

Are there no decent Democrats, Joe?

OK I will be generous…

Is he trying to be smart and see if that way he can make a few GOP senators break with Trump? Unlikely too work.

Is he trying to lure “independents” with signals of “bipartisanship”? Unlikely to work either. “Independents” are just diehard republican voters ashamed of admitting it. They say they presently cannot vote for democrats because they are “open borders” or want to confiscate guns or whatever reason Fox News gives them.

Look, I like Biden, but when he goes out and says stuff like this, believing that our current issues stem from Trump and Trump alone, he really showcases a complete lack of understanding about the underlying state of American politics. The GOP has abandoned all pretense of being a good faith actor in our theater of Democracy.

The days of Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill having lunch together once a week in the Oval are dead and gone Joe and they’re never coming back because one party no longer believes in the Founding principles of our Republic and will gladly toss them aside in order to stay in power.

Just Joe being Joe. No need to worry, everything is cool. No one’s gonna vote Trump anyway.
