These fucking assholes want to steal relief money from their population to give it back as tax cuts that will invariably go to upper classes. As much as they bitch about how the federal gov’t is ‘bailing out’ the blue states and big cities that are ‘poorly run’, they keep taking and taking and they require more and more because they continually run deficits to lower taxes. There needs to be some laws around what states can get away with when they are net takers of federal funds; we basically subsidize their low taxes that they use to attract businesses and please their donors.

In Kavanaugh’s defense, I think it only fair to point out that he’s credibly accused of rape and/or attempted rape, and he drinks too much, and someone paid off his debts just before he got put on the Supreme Court.

BTW. What’s happening in Brasil is very very disconcerting. Epidemiologists are worried about a Covid-19 variant factory being established owing to Bolsonaro’s cruel ineptitude.
Preliminary data suggests the P1 variant could be up to twice as transmittable as the original version of the virus.
It also suggests that the new variant could evade immunity built up by having had the original version of Covid. The chance of reinfection is put at between 25% and 60%.
Scientists are concerned that Brazil has almost become a “natural laboratory” - where people can see what happens when coronavirus goes relatively unchecked.
Some warn the country is now a breeding ground for new variants of the virus, unhindered by effective social distancing and fuelled by vaccine shortages.
Can’t help but think this is a mirror of what would have happened here if Trump had been re-elected.

Maybe they can use the money to help their people. Rural health is under funded in nearly all Red States because they didn’t expand Medicaid. Or maybe states can use the money to raise the salaries of their first responders. Or maybe they can use the money to fund lots of other things that make a state attractive to businesses such as higher education and tech regions.
The problem with most Republicans is they don’t have very good imaginations. All they know is cutting taxes. Taxes are a pretty small part of what attracts a business to a state.
