Warren brings nothing. Liberals (as opposed to the left) will come to any ticket. Stacy Abrams will bring in the backbone of the party, Black America.
That is why Abrams is the prefect VP. As @philmore just listed (and I had forgotten the transgenger surgery being a right for prison inmates) she is a complete idiot when it comes to politics, really poor insticts, been in Harvard too long.
You would not see Abrams saying some of the dumb shit stuff that has come out of Warren’s mouth.
Again, love warren. I would prefer her in the white house to Biden by a lot, but she is just out of it politically.
Hmm. I wonder if the point is to demonstrate his capacity for leadership to the general public or just to show Trump what real money looks like.
He has no path to the nomination.
And I am strongly pro-trans; I have a trans daughter. But that was just insane, a complete tin ear. Not what the independent voters and the swing states want to hear. We need those voters. If we don’t have a death wish.
The word “Boomers” is a reference to Baby Boomers. Baby Boomers are a big part of Joe Biden’s voting base. None of this is controversial or insulting. Unless you really WANT it to be.
Ditto, the problem is “progressives” and Black turn out (especially the young). Abrams checks both boxes. She is progressive, young, and will motivate blacks, particularly young blacks.
Absent a compelling young Latina (and hard to think of anyone other than Cortez-Mastro (D - NV) - and I think she is too moderate to check the same boxes) Abrams is the perfect choice.
I’m in a grumpy mood, as usual. Can we just get on with this without all the factional triumphalism? We all have our favorites, but have a little dignity. It’s the fucking republic at stake.
If young America votes this time. I’ve been waiting for the youth vote since, oh, 1972.
I will take either, both Abrams and Warren are strong fighters. Warren staying in is not helping Bernie.
You’re new here, aren’t you?
Exactly the way to look at these things. I live in SF, we have two sets of freinds who have trans kids, but it is NOT an issue to push to win an election in WI, AZ, FL (and then GA, PA, NH, IA, NC). And trans - and everyone else - will do a lot better with a Democrat in the white house than Trump.
I just wish people would see it this way. It takes a coalition to win, and you don’t win by pushing the issues that most freak people out (like socialized health care, or a $54.6T tax fueled spending plan).
Isn’t it a little early in St. Petersberg? Or did they bring in shifts early today to be ready for the South Carolina results?
“It’s very hard and in many cases simply impossible to reverse engineer or retrofit these statements into something having any coherent or logical meaning.”
So dont, Josh. THATS NOT YOUR FUCKING JOB. It’s not up to the “news” to make sense or even help us to make sense of ANYTHING. The POTUS was out there calling fear of an ongoing viraln pandemic a hoax for no other reason than the resulting death count mightninconvenience his reelection… That its mere existence and his incompetence make it an an inconvenience to his continued power. It’s not your job to make sense of it. In fact, the inclination to make sense of it, which seemingly rises to meet the level of nonsense it truly is, is why we are here. There is no making sense of it. Stop it. Stop trying to explain everything away if you’re the “news”. Some shit is inexplicable and inexcusable. Its nonsense top to bottom and needs to die.
So you’re saying there’s a chance?
In December, David Cay Johnston was emphatically agreeing with me on this point (he said, "The Democrats have to discover this thing called the “Electoral College.’ They could win the popular vote by 9 million and still lose the Election.”) that we fund trans surgery only after, quietly, take office.
I hope he wins a majority. No one else, including Sanders has done that yet.
Don’t worry, just a few folks messing with the Russian Bots. Trying to make their Sunday morning hangovers hurt a little bit…
Neither.
Mike Pence pushes it out.
Impressive ability to know the thinking behind thousands of other peoples actions.
Point taken, but let me go out on a limb and suggest that for the most part older Black Americans have a deeper understanding of actual America, than white people born and raised in comfort.
