Well, given that Dems suck at messaging and Repubs excel at it, it would have been framed as a choice between FreeDUMB! and COMMUNISM. I.e. do you want to be healthier, happier and overall better off, or do you want to be free?
I don’t know what it’ll take to get Dems to stop messaging like cerebral professors and start talking to voters like the ADD-addled idiots that most are, who need to be hit over the head with quick and snappy sound bites and not leveled with. They WANT to be treated like morons. No one got rich treating everyday people like adults.
Dems don’t suck at messaging. They just have to hold hearings, and narrow the scope of what they want to say. Then they can message with the best of them. Well, maybe better than some. Not all. A few. Next to the Chiclets, but not the Bicentennial shot glasses…
Fingers crossed. I really think we need to come out of this with something that helps people.
ETA: after all these weeks if wrangling, we can’t fail now. Much as I’d like the full bill, we need this win politically as well as for the public good.
