Could this finally be it? TBD. Only SineManchin knows.
The final bill will consist of $5 Chick-Fil-A vouchers for all West Virginians and funding for new highway signs in Arizona with a picture of Sinema on them wearing one of her Halloween-ready outfits.
I prefer La Manchima.
At this point is better to just call the whole thing off. It’s clear that democrats don’t have the votes for anything, they are only making themselves look inept. Redirect the energy to attacking and punishing republicans.
The Manchinema’s negotiating advantage reminds me of a scene from Bad Santa in which Bernie Mac’s character totally dominated the discussion about how to split ill-gotten goods.

Define “better”. Walking away from a combined $2.95T in spending and going to Glasgow and the VA Gov election empty handed and looking impotent. That doesn’t sound like “better” to me. Take what we can get and push for more after.
Manchin and Sinema:
“And don’t expect us to be so cooperative and compromising next time.”
They are going to go empty handed anyway, better to look principled than looking like idiots. Manchin and Sinema are now in the same mood of the anti-vax, it’s just “no, no and no”, the reasoning for the negative changes (or in the case of Sinema no reasons given) but the result is the same. Deep down they believe it’s not in their best interest to give the Democratic Party a big win.
“The Morans From La Manchima”
“To dream the unpossible dream.”
Eagerly awaiting the manchinations those two will reply with.
Greg Sargent in WaPo has a list of what in and out (for now).
Gone: paid leave, prescription drugs, and expansion of Medicare.
I suspect the people in WVA and AZ—if and when they find out their senators nixed these items—will not be happy. But then again, they’re counting on them to never find out. But a deal is better than no deal and climate change provisions stayed in, thank god.
You know you probably wouldn’t need to extend all these (carefully crafted to leave out single people) tax credits, if you just passed a decent Fed minimum wage.
Why keep subsidizing the worst employers?
Costco just raised their minimum wage to $17 hr.
Half-way there!
Good thing Biden is not listening to us.
He’ll get what he can and then use tools he has and we don’t.
Not necessarily. 75% of workers already have at least some paid leave, Medicare drug prices are transparent to beneficiaries as they’re not burdened with the full cost and can have Part D coverage for those, and many Medicare Advantage plans already offer dental and vision coverage.
So the actual impacted population would be some much smaller subset.
Manchin would like to add a requirement before he agrees:
Sabado was more gloomy night before last, but I suspect that both Sabado and O’Donnell wanted to light a fire under Democratic voters.
I would much more want to see something like that than snarky wisecracks about the GOP candidate
