Biden Cheers On MLB Potentially Moving All-Star Game Out Of Atlanta Over Anti-Voting Law

I hope they move the All Star Game to Puerto Rico.

He didn’t say that MLB was any kind of leader.
He just thinks moving the All-Star game is a good idea.

The PGA doesn’t own or control the Masters Tournament, which is organized by the Augusta National Golf Club.
Both the Masters and the Augusta club were created by the great Bobby Jones in the mid '30s.

Then antifa needs to infest Augusta with several hundred-thousand gators just prior to the Master’s.

I guess it’s kinda like my working at Target.

The State mandate might’ve been lifted here in Wisconsin, but store policy can be made independently of that. No mask, no entry.

Sadly, I’ve been told since I started there in September that, though we may post that a mask is required to enter this store, we won’t enforce it because ‘it would interfere with the exceptional shopping experience we’d like all our customers to enjoy’.

Don’t yell at me. That’s the corporate line I always get.

So whomever owns the stadium should be able to set the rules. That’s where the hole in all of this is.

From the article:

President Joe Biden on Wednesday night backed the Major League Baseball (MLB) organization potentially moving its All-Star game out of Atlanta, Georgia in protest of the state’s recently passed restrictions on voting.

“I would strongly support them doing that,” Biden said during an interview on ESPN. “People look to them. They’re leaders.”

I don’t know how else to interpret Biden’s statement about MLB and leadership. Who else in the sentence is ‘They’re’?

They’re sports leaders, not civil rights leaders.

I’ll quibble on this one. He doesn’t distinguish or specifically call out what kind of leaders. He only says ‘they’re leaders’. Especially the preceding sentence about people looking to them.

I don’t think republicans know that, yet.

You can get named to the team and not show up - happens in the NFL all the time. You’re still an All Star player (apart from the pity rule that all teams have player representation, like San Diego before we got some decent players.

Major League Baseball should move the All Star Game as far away from Atlanta as it possibly can. I’m thinking T-Mobile Park in Seattle would do nicely.

Come to Detroit! We are also seeing Texas passing their version of voter suppression law. What corps should we boycott there? Also why was “A Biden Story? On TPM?!?” posted? What am I missing?

And here is why Delta kept quiet for so long.

The retribution begins for calling out this heinous voting restriction:

Dates back to the presidential race. You’d see 30-odd headlines about Trump, and one on Biden.

Without over-thinking this, I take his statement to mean that the MLB is an influential organization, and if they moved the location of the All-Star game, it would be noticed and perhaps imitated by other organizations.

It’s fine statement and well-phrased.

Wow. Why do you think that is?

Now THAT is a really stupid move for Georgia. Delta isn’t going to leave Atlanta. But it can move more of its operations to its other hubs (like Detroit & Minneapolis).

And it can dangle some of its operations to other states, who will compete to get a piece of their presence. For example, by offering tax incentives like the ones Georgia is threatening to pull.
