will this reduce the decibel level of the “Trump-Cult” noise ? … initially, not by much … but they noise will become more shrill & tinny & certainly not full & robust
will it “thin the herd” of Trump Cultists … some …
…but it will take a harsh toll on those fair-weather Trump daisies - the ones who need to be constantly watered with Trump propaganda & fantasies
… it will diminish the fringe that has been clinging to the “stay the course - thinking” … the ones who have been clinging …but wondering if there is a better choice …
It may take a few days / weeks but remember …As they were crashing to the ground … Jimmy Swagert, Jim Bakker, Ted Haggard, Tom DeLay, John Edwards, John Hastert, Jerry Falwall Jr., …all had their core of followers who swore that this was just all a hoax … and then shortly … most all of those “supporters” (except for the total cultists) turned to dust and blew away …
Maybe not, but if the audit Josh pushes for can show systematic self-dealing, and gross irresponsibility in the way he handled the covid-19 response, the followers may just fade back into the woodwork they crawled out of.
ETA: I think it’s safe to assume that the society will continue to change around them and gradually reduce them to insignificance.
Not that I’ve seen. On Facebook last night in response to a friend’s post about this the comments were full of, “He pays lots of other taxes,” and, “This just shows he is clever and a good businessman.”
I had that thought as well. I am not certain which is better…that they have shown themselves for who and what they are and we can deal with them appropriately, or that they fade back into the woodwork and we can get on with the business of fixing what has been wrecked without having to think much about them.
Not if he ends up losing his shirt and paying thousands? millions? of dollars in fines. I doubt he’ll go to prison, but I’d certainly welcome that if it happens.
It would be gracious to acknowledge how right she was.
But if you voted for Trump not out of any great love for him but out of distaste for Clinton and insufficient attention to the person that Trump had already revealed himself to be, it would probably come off as, “She told you so.”
We humans are not very good at hearing, “I told you so.”
How do we tell people so without actually “I told you so.”?
Somehow I don’t want to see Trump stripped down into shorts while he’s on the scale. On the other hand I wouldn’t mind seeing Trump go through “boot camp”.
I believe that is entirely the wrong way to view this.
Trump is down. He has to turn that around to have even an outside chance of making it even competitive. Anything that gets in the way of that, is very very bad for him.
Its not about convincing his nutjob supporters, its about ensuring that those that have flipped on him, stay flipped. And this will absolutely do that.
Personally, I suspect a small percentage more will throw in the towel on him. This story has legs, and lots of pieces. Including pieces that will absolutely infuriate Trump, guaranteeing he mouths off his sense of grievance…repeatedly…and drives a few more away in the process.
