Biden Campaign Demands Cable News Outlets Stop Booking Giuliani

Joe Biden’s campaign sent a letter to major cable news outlets and anchors on Sunday demanding that they stop inviting Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani to their programs.

I feel silly now because of this:

“We write to demand that in service to the facts, you no longer book Rudy Giuliani, a surrogate for Donald Trump who has demonstrated that he will knowingly and willingly lie in order to advance his own narrative.”

I originally thought Biden’s overture to news outlets was an act of mercy to curb Giuliani’s further self-implication in a raft of federal crimes.

Fat lot of good that’ll do. Now you know some Fox talking head show is going to book ruddy gobbles to ask him what he thinks about the Biden attempt to censor* him.

*Yes, I know this is not censorship but the rhetoric still works.

Nah, feeding the G-troll attention will make him double his TV appearances. Sly one, that Biden.

Booking Ghouliani on TV at this point is categorically not much different from having Richard Speck or Ted Bundy on to spin the narrative about their crimes. The Ghoul is implicated in indictable behavior and consequently can not be counted as a credible, disinterested commenter on that behavior.

Would they keep inviting a Holocaust denier?
I hope they don’t pay him.

While limiting or eliminating Guliani’s airtime seems to be the main goal, it really isn’t -precisely because they’re aware the media would get their backs up about taking orders on guests from a third party.

Their main ask is the alternative they’ve proposed. Having a Biden surrogate on air also- instead of a generic Democrat -to counter Rudy’s slanderous statements. Cleverly done.

Let Rudy speak! He is awesome! America’s jackass!

I think this is a good move. It’s decisive. It speaks to the idea that Biden’s got some stones, and it’s good optics. He’s not whining, he’s not playing victim, he’s thowing down a gauntlet. Also what @pshah says above.

I like it. May change my mind as the story develops, but for the moment, I like it a lot.

OT – A personal note: To all those here in the tribe tonight and at this season, I’d like to wish you שנה טובה ומתוקה. I hope the upcoming year is a heck of a lot better than the previous one. L’Chaim.

I would like to see Biden start attacking Trump for being a coward. If I were Biden, I would start saying that “Trump is so afraid of me, he is using the power off his office to try to force an ally that depends on our assistance into fabricating false evidence and a false narrative about me. Apparently he doesn’t think he can beat me without cheating. What a complete coward.”

Very good idea, and it has the further benefit of increasing Trumps insanity plunge so it handicaps him more for the election. One of these days he will drop his pants in front of 50,000 people just to prove he is really a man.

But he lurves the sound of his own voice, so…

Why not ask for equal airtime to counter Rudy’s lies?
Either Biden or someone from his team that is quick and personable should go on with Rudy and get equal time to answer Rudy’s unfounded accusations.
If I had my pick, I’d pick someone like Stephanie Cutter.

I’d look further (like watch a clip), but I theek Ingraham asked him that already.

He did. It’s in the letter. They’re asking for a Biden surrogate to counter Trump’s surrogate -Rudy.

“It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.” – The Les Moonves Principle, applicable to all the Media Whores.

That’s what Biden is up against. Good luck.

Biden wants Guiliani on TV. The letter saying to the contrary was a head fake. Guiliani is hurting Trump far more than helping him.
