Biden Calls On Trump To ‘Step Down’ Over Botched Response To Pandemic

In truth, Joe Biden did not “call on” Current Occupant to step down. All he did was to employ a bit of artful rhetoric that most likely popped into his head at that moment: a bit of wordplay to create a counterpoint between the image of Americans stepping up to a challenge while their leader goes in the opposite direction. It was unusually clever for Biden, and it seems to be resonating, but it was almost certainly not intended as a direct challenge for Current Occupant to leave and cede the Oval Office to Mike Dense.

Newspapers matter anymore? Seriously, railing against newspapers is parhetic.

I like the sound of this new word ‘parhetic’… shall we come up with a working definition for it?

I’d take that gamble … since Pence is a rather stiff & uninspiring schmuck … pedantic and preachy …
… and would not expect him to shine while comprehensively stained and stinking from the oozing excrement that is Trump.

This is how Daniel Dale saw it. It is a fair assessment.

Look, there's just no equivalence.

Biden makes some false and misleading claims. It's important to note them. We will. But his assertions of fact have been largely factual.

Trump, as we saw at the town hall and see again tonight, has been incessantly and egregiously dishonest.

Everyone should have been calling for Trump (aka “Donald”) to resign for YEARS now. Trying to get under his very thin skin. Making him, what’s that expression, “act out.” In short, letting everyone see what a toddler he is. Keep it up, Joe! And the rest of us need to start urging resignation. Every day. This guy can’t take the heat.

Sleepy Joe just tried to overthrow the government. My Attorney General will have him arrested and persecuted [sic] strongly.

From Ms. Cabrera’s piece above: “There’s never been a time they have not been able to step up. This president should step down.” As a rhetorical device that seems awfully like a slap in the face with a pair of gloves.

This is why I refer to the Republican controlled media as the Corporate Controlled Conservative Press.

The CCCP merely recites the latest talking points given to them by Republicans.

Gosh, I’m trying to remember where I saw CCCP before…

Because we hope to get reserved seating in the Coloreds Only section at all future Trump rallies, and be dead three weeks later like Brother Cain. (Don’t ask the question if you don’t want the answer.)

War criminal, he needs to be prosecuted at all levels and learn the fine art of license plate making.

Hell yeah Uncle Joe!! Give this swine a chance to do the right thing before taking him behind the woodshed.

I don’t think this is about him stepping down. I don’t believe he’s going to for precisely the reasons you say and Biden knows that too. This is simply about how unfit Trump is for office and how he shouldn’t be in office. It’s about influencing public opinion on that. In the midst of the Woodward revelations, Biden’s timing is right. It’s a good time for him to fan the flames.

Yet another indictment of capitalism run wild. It’s time to put a stake through the heart of Milton Friedmanism on its 75th anniversary. The NYTimes made a start on this last week with a series of articles critiquing the “profit is the only thing” mentality.

And Americans need to know that there’s a wide range of economic systems between cutthroat dog-eat-dog capitalism and Bolshevik totalitarian communism. Time to grow up, in other words.

Sorry if this seems too off-topic! I just read Jamelle Bouie’s discussion of Facebook on the WaPo…

Assuming Bloomberg is true to his word … that $100,000,000 that he has said he will invest in Florida to push for a Biden victory - might move the ball down the field - considerably.

Talked to an older black gentleman in Wisconsin last night. Hates Trump but was undecided about Biden. He didn’t agree with the calls to “defund the police,” and thought the problem was more about communication between the cops and the community. I said Biden’s on record as saying that, more or less. He may have been convinced. One thing that was interesting was his reaction to his current Congresswoman, a black woman. He said she’s always for the black woman but not the black man. Don’t know if it was just this guy, but I do know that sexual politics in the black community are complicated. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that. Who knows? Could Harris’ selection be a complicating factor for Biden with black men?
