Bay Area ‘Shelter In Place’ | Talking Points Memo

Yup, and it freaked out his neighbors when they heard he was deliberately ingesting Coronas!

Actually, there already is a lot more clarity. Here’s the actual order. It’s much more detailed and thorough than the early news coverage of it would suggest: http://acphd.org/media/559658/health-officer-order-shelter-in-place-20200316.pdf

It provides not only for keeping essential businesses and services open, but also for keeping their supply chains running. Even walking and other outdoor recreation are explicitly permitted, as long as appropriate distancing is maintained.

I hope @littlegirlblue checks in soon.

Ain’t that the truth?! I haven’t decided yet whether we’re luckier to have both of our “kids” here in town or whether their helpfulness is driving me nuts. I’m not going to complain, though. It’s nice to have them being decent people.

I’ve been around, maybe not as much, but all is well. Thanks for asking.

I’m sorry to hear that. It breaks my heart. Tell her we’re all “hunkering down” and confident we’re going to get through this. A hot toddy might not hurt this evening, too.

Since Miss Molly already used Good Hair to describe the sitting governor, wonder what she would have come up with to describe the triple combed over one. I suppose Good Hair Redux would work.

Just east of you outside Walnut Creek. My hubs commutes to a non-essential job in SF. Waiting for word on office closure…for which he will have to use vacation time or not be paid.

This has gotten dead serious.

Stay safe everyone.

You do know that this is how we keep score? Each Raised Eyebrow is worth one point, a rolled eye is worth two and a groan is worth five. I told my daughter it makes me proud to realize that she’s a groan woman…

I’m reading don’t get on airplanes between the lines because they are now breeding grounds.

So how are folks supposed to stay in shape and not get fat(ter)? This just substitutes one unhealthy situation for another. I don’t see the problem with going on solitary walks, runs or bike rides, so long as you avoid close human contact. If anything it’s an essential coping mechanism for the stress, isolation and cabin fever this is causing. It hasn’t gotten this strict in NYC, but if it does they’re going to have to arrest me to keep me confined indoors for the next few months. I do have an exercise bike but it’s not enough. I think they need to loosen this policy slightly to allow being outside for exercise.

This will be most urban areas within a week. If we had any national leadership it would be the whole country, urban or not.

It’s more than a little disturbing that we are expecting these people to put themselves at risk for everyone else. Do they have a choice or do they feel they have to work because they live paycheck-to-paycheck?

Like usual California is on the leading edge of things. This is coming to a theater near you folks.

Seems by the time its mandated, hopefully most of us will already be there.
