I would write “And so it begins…” but this began late last year. It’s only now that BLOTUS is starting to really wake up to it. A real damn pandemic and market crash, and mostly his making.
ETA: Hunker down and self-isolate to stay healthy, folks. I know it’s not going to be easy, but we can do this and come out the other side. We are at war with an invisible enemy.
Truly a massive effort. I wish Californians the best of fortune.
Gonna be an especially tough time for all those Silicon Valley employees living in their cars.
Yeah, I’m one of those people since I live in Alameda county. Welcome to the apocalypse everyone!!
I guess I’m not currently under the “shelter in place”, being in Santa Cruz County. But I’m going to go ahead and do it anyway. So is my up the hill neighbor. I went up there to check in and he was having a beer at 11:45am. I must be sheltering in place wrong.
At the correct concentration, alcohol can disinfect.
Well he was certainly concentrating on it. He’s probably on his fifth by now.
One of the nice things for those of us who live in Marin Co. is this is what my “backyard” looks like.

There needs to be a lot more clarity about what constitutes essential work. if you work in a grocery store or drug store, seems like they need you to go to work. But what about the truck drivers that supply those stores? What about mail carriers? Amazon delivery people? What about people who work for the cable companies – if there’s an internet outage it seems like that could cause a major problem? What about someone who cleans or cooks food at a nursing home – is that essential or not? Or someone who works at a homeless shelter?
Isn’t it a little counterproductive to tell people to stay indoors? I walk around the block for exercise and fresh air, and we’re spending time outside reading and gardening etc. since the weather is nice. Before antibiotics, this was shown to make an outcome difference with patients sick with the flu.
Of course I don’t have to take an elevator; that might be a different story.
Shit just got real. I knew this would probably happen at some point, but it is still shocking when it actually does. Sort of like watching an ill and elderly relative deteriorate. You know and expect that they will die soon, but it is nevertheless still a shock when they do.
160 proof. Beer ain’t gonna cut it, even outside Oklahoma.
PA is closing the Liquor stores tomorrow at 9pm. for two weeks That will cause a stampede.
You for sure are. I’ve got about 16 cases, and am thinking about expanding the stockpile.
Stay safe, @littlegirlblue, @grack, et al!
Yeah, that’s close to 80%. That’ll do it purty goood. I suppose you could put your beer through a distillation column to increase concentration, but it’d get pretty gummy.
Mmmm. Gummies!
All of you talking booze, our adult daughter just texted us both and said we are grounded.
Thanks.(I live inS.F)
