Barr Likens Dealing With Trump And His Allies To ‘Wrestling With An Alligator’

Former Attorney General Bill Barr on Sunday continued knocking former President Trump for pushing the Big Lie, while baselessly painting efforts to delegitimize the democratic process as something that happened on “both sides.”

Yet, he serviced him faithfully while in office. Too little, too late.
Being attorney general, he knew better.
No absolution for one of Trump’s largest enablers.
Reluctant enabling is still enabling.

What Bill Barr really thinks about Donald Trump is an uncertainty to me. What I am certain about is that he is trying desperately to sell his book. That tells one his true beliefs as a lawyer, as an American, and a person. Basically that tells one everything one needs to know about him.

The man cheapens the name “toady.” He simultaneously trashes Trump but says he will still support him in 2024. If he was much of a man at all he would either come out with a full throated endorsement or condemnation. Trying to do both at the same time is pathetic.

What is truly grotesque is Barr’s crowding out important news and analysis. This hack with his pathetic contradictions and his hideous record sits with a tool like Todd and wastes time and space while Poland is menaced by Russian nukes. We are a fucked up country.

The Trump yes man complains that Trump surrounded himself with yes men, in an attempt to convince historians that he wasn’t just as corrupt as the the rest of the Trump administration figures. Yeah, I think that about covers it.

It’s really the shamelessness of this that’s most infuriating, as if we didn’t watch Barr do everything possible to help Trump in his trashing of the Constitution and governing norms in the hopes that we’d be forced into the Republican enforced theocracy that he wants. I hope people aren’t fooled by this nonsense.

Now this, yes. The fact Barr is trying to play both ways is damaging and disgusting.

The both sides thing while annoying can be easily a rhetorical gambit to get certain audiences to listen, where they might otherwise not. That’s …understandable.

His loathsome play of trashing Trump but expressing support is indeed pathetic

Tribalism is a weird thing. Barr, along with most Republicans, has convinced himself that, no matter what his side does or has done, the other side must be worse. Once a person convinces himself of that, then defending their side at all costs only makes sense.

This is why people only rarely abandon whichever group or idea they associate with until long after that group or idea has been shown to be extremely toxic, unrealistic or otherwise dysfunctional. It’s not that these people don’t see the faults of their side but, rather, they can’t conceive of a world in which the other side isn’t worse.

People will nearly always stay with the devil they know rather than even look at an alternative they’ve already convinced themselves must be wrong. This is a trap everyone falls into at least some of the time.

Guy who got the job by telling the wannabe autocrat he could land the plane is shocked, shocked I tell you, that he was asked to land the plane.

I mean, who could have seen this, except every single person in the world since Trump telegraphs everything.

This is nothing new, this has been going on for thousands of years, there are many terms that describe this kind of behavior.

The fact that this is news is news, are they so dense that they could not instinctively get a sense of who Trump was? It’s not like he came out of nowhere, he portrayed a cheeseball jackass on a reality tv show. No acting needed.

On the show he surrounded himself with fawning sycophants groveling for his favor. The signs were there, we were warned, it’s too bad that it took until now for people to wake up to the menace the Trump posed.

Bill Barr has shown himself to be a disgrace as an Attorney General, that is one thing Trump and I agree on.

The Trump yes man thought that he could control Trump, Trump being a novice in the political world. But there had to be some sort red line that Trump that crossed that even made Barr turn away.
With that said Barr has gone through his first act, Trump was his second act, so hopeful Barr by his own actions should be shunted to wilderness. I don’t know if I could stand a third act from this guy.
