Barr Compares Lockdowns To ‘Slavery’ While COVID Disproportionately Kills Black Americans

Attorney General Bill Barr made an astonishing comparison between lockdowns prompted by COVID-19, which is known to be disproportionately deadly to Black communities, to chattel slavery on Wednesday night.

Fighting covid is not slavery
Wearing a mask is not an infringement on one’s freedom … it’s being a good neighbor but I guess Billy Barr doesn’t care about anyone but himself… or his mentor.

This is beyond insulting. Wearing a cloth or paper mask, temporarily restricting people to their homes during an epidemic, are not even in same category as slavery.

Ok Wow. Whenever I think I can’t be any more horrified.

The rest of the world laughs at us as our attorney general claims asking people to stay home when possible is at all comparable to being treated like property. What a piece of scum.

Barr’s migration from conservative poobah to full-on crazy Trump lickspittle mirrors the journey of the Republican party over the past decades.

Sure fighting a pandemic and taking precautionary health measures is akin to chattel slavery. Maybe he really did read the 1619 project.

Barr is really, really dumb. He is such a ham-handed hack. The Republican party keeps reviving this corrupt sack of crap for basically one reason - his fever dreams of an unaccountable Republican totalitarian government, and his willingness to do ridiculously corrupt and unethical things to make it happen. But if you listen to what he says, it’s mostly just laughably stupid. Terrible, lazy, transparently wrong arguments. He’s far dumber than a box of some of your dumber rocks.

The comparison to house arrest was fine, and wouldn’t disagree.

Equating it to slavery is just beyond insane.

Barr needs to resign yesterday. He is clearly unfit for the office he holds.

Nice analogy, asshole.

War is peace.
Ignorance is strength.
Freedom is slavery.
Bill Barr is an American.

Mayby if trump and Barr would go out of their protected bubble and meet real people … and being “brave” … without a mask… lets us see how they feel in two or three weeks time.

The moment in Barr’s confirmation hearings when chills went down my spine and I knew we were screwed. Someone, don’t recall who, asked him how we could trust he would be independent from president traitor. His answer was roughly I’m 65, I’ve made all the money I need, this will be my last job. I don’t need to worry about my reputation. The talking heads nodded in agreement, even some Democrats thought it was a reassuring answer. And my brain was screaming holy crap, he’s telling you he has no interest in his reputation and will do whatever it takes to protect a criminal administration! This is terrible! Sure wish I had been wrong.

“Other than slavery, which was a different kind of restraint, this is the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American history,” said Barr.

The Trail of Tears and WWII Japanese internment camps both say ‘Hi’.

Gee, isn’t it nice to know that when our AG thinks about infringements on civil liberties throughout US history he seems unaware of the south during reconstruction and the Jim Crow era, as well as of the Japanese internment camps during WW2. Of course, how can those little things possibly compare to wearing a mask when going to the grocery store.

Disbar Barr! Impeach him! Remove him from office! Tar and feather him (h/t to lastroth)! Deprive him of unlimited cheeseburgers too!!

The Clarence Thomas hearings seem rather quaint these days

What is wrong with these people?

You are one sick bastard, Barr.

To a right-wing imbecile like Barr (as well as the Trumpfluffers), requiring people to wear a mask and stay at home is TYRANNY! But beating protestors exercising their 1st Amendment rights is good policy.
