I wonder, however, if it’s like the “public figure” exception that exists elsewhere. This guy has power and influence that he should not have. There are few weapons one can use against people like him except relentless ad hominem taunting. I don’t find it objectionable to direct vitriol at him in ways I would not for people who don’t possess that kind of power and influence.
I am certainly willing to consider that I am entirely wrong.
Ahhhhhhh…Greitens…another abuser insisting dammit that HE is the ‘victim’ and he will take his ‘revenge’ on RINOs and DEMOCRATS…anyone not sufficiently Trumpian (authoritarian rightest thug)…
I have had professional interaction with three Trump judicial appointees. One was a shitty, low-rent lawyer whose ass I once kicked in a small county courthouse. One was a high-rent political hack who is obviously auditioning for a Supreme Court appointment. And one was (and is) an excellent and fair-minded attorney who promptly dismissed one of Team Trump’s dumb post-election lawsuits.
I don’t know Judge Nichols, but his background is solid and he absolutely eviscerated Rudy and Sidney’s attempt to dismiss the Dominion defamation lawsuit. There’s no reason to believe he’s going to do Steve Bannon any favors.
Steve Bannon was exposed to direct sunlight today while surrendering to authorities. The FBI were able to shuffle him indoors before he burst into flames.
The fact that that was my instantaneous reaction says volumes about the descent of our judiciary under Trump/McConnell. Prior to Orange Stain, I never worried about who appointed judges below the appellate courts.
