Backlash Over 'Big Beautiful' Continues In Congress

Why is everyone being so superstitious about this? Seventy-five million morally depraved assholes voted for this: you reap what you sow. Are we not supposed to say that because it’s allegedly bad form?

Oh sure, those who rejected the works of the Devil are going to get caught up, but really, I better see those “rural hospital closures” (honestly, that feels a lot like the phantom Polish worker of Brexit hysteria) on the scale predicted because for the briefest second, there will be self-awareness. And that will be DEE-LISH.

“The president of the United States didn’t give us an assignment,” Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) said, per Punchbowl. “We’re not a bunch of little bitches around here, okay? I’m a member of Congress. I represent almost 800,000 Wisconsinites.”

How’s that whole representation thing working out, little bitch?

One of my colleagues at the store is the single mom of an autistic teenager. She is lucky in a sense. Connecticut will do all it can to help her. Not so much if she were in a Red State.

They are the same people who cried and stomped and yelled during the 1930s when the New Deal went into action. They’ve been trying to destroy it ever since. They succeeded to a point today, but it was so easy for them that they will go the rest of the way in the next year.

The joke is on the GOP. This bill has a half-life of about 12-18 months and the GOP, fearing righteous retribution, put the first Medicaid cuts AFTER 2028.

These will never happen because the Democrats will take the trifecta in 2028 and by EO, the Democratic President will declare that the 2025 Big Ugly Bill was corruptly enacted and that the new 2029 Baseline is the Biden 2025 budget, adjusted for inflation.

The Democrats can then reverse all the future cuts in one fell swoop and enact a balanced budget by passing a change to the Income Tax code to impose a minimum tax on Adjusted Gross Income over $500K of 25%. In addition, a Warren excise tax on trusts larger than $100M will be levied to eliminate the deficits created by the 2017 Trump Tax cut in all future budgets.

The rich will piss and moan and scream but it will be better than enduring torches and pitchforks and blood in their ill-gotten mansions.

I kinda find the latter more appealing.

A pattern which will be attempted to be applied to Medicare & Social Security… and the civil rights acts

That, is the MAGA greatest hope … especially if it is consisting of “others”

No doubt, there will be those who ask if it could be additive … 1.04 trillion + 800 billion for a total of 1.84 trillion … and then round up!

I’ll leave my semi-regular reminder that it’s my understanding that about 2/3 of Medicaid spending is for the impoverished in nursing homes.:money_mouth_face:

Besides lots of dead people, there’s gonna be a lot of grandparents moving in with their kids.

ETA: link and caveat.
