I hate to say it, but that’s probably going to be true
Before I went to bed last night I heard that they passed the rule setting the BUB up for a final vote. Apparently Johnson gathered recalcitrant members and they huddled together and prayed on the house floor. Wow.
good interview. apparently trump promiced the house members he would take out all the bad shit after it was law. YEA RIGHT
Rep. Ralph Norman on Trump’s megabill: We held out as long as we could | Watch
GOP is now an utterly delusional personality cult, with an utterly delusional personality at the top.
You get what you deserve:
This presupposes learning.
This country, debased and morally bankrupt, does not do “learning.”
Curtis, NE is in Frontier County (no, really!).
The last time a majority of Frontier County voters went Dem in a Presidential election was 1936.
Nineteen thirty-six! Went against FDR in 1940 and 1944 in the middle of the war!
The 2024 vote was over 85% for the patient.
About as deep-red Repub as you can get.
”Frannie”, he said, and turned her around so he could look into her eyes.
“What Stuart?”
“Do you think…do you think people ever learn anything?”
She opened her mouth to speak, hesitated, fell silent
…
I don’t know.

218 motherfuckers.
They are cowed opportunists who see their “daddy” as the only option coupled with being punished by him if they turn another direction. The constituents are the cult, the law makers hostages by their own greed and power mongering.
All things that Donnie wishes, dreams and drools for, come to him by threat and punishment. And as has been noted, the overwhelming majority of Republicans are spineless.
Below contempt.
The House passed Senate Republicans’ version of the reconciliation package on Thursday 218-214 in a largely party line vote.
Well, all we can do now is to try to mitigate the effects of this horrendous bill. This is now a triage situation — I wouldn’t wish the effects on anyone, Democrat or Republican, but it’s not up to us to save MAGAs from themselves. I used to think we were all in this together, but that quaint, naive notion has been thoroughly quashed. Given the soon to be severely limited resources, we have to do everything we can to preserve services for those in blue states/areas, and let the impacts fall as much as possible on red states/areas. After all, this is what they wanted and voted for, so let them have it and face the brunt of it.
It may sound heartless, but this is what you do when you triage — you focus your efforts and resources on the innocent and those you can save, not on those actively seeking their own destruction. So it’s time for blue-state governors to make up what little of the massive shortfalls they can, but focus their remaining efforts and resources on blue cities and counties. Let MAGA counties have what they asked for.
Welp. Got my nausea sorted for the day.
I’ll just be over here figuring they put a landscaper in charge of counter-terrorism to up their odds for the Reichstag fire phase.
But Johnson, et al., just told them, yet again, that this is all because ‘those illegals’ are taking all the benefits! And they likely still believe it.
It makes me wonder, what will happen after mass deportation? Who will they be next to blame?
Nicely put. And they are not done yet, not when there is still some humanity, kindness, empathy, Jesus-y thing standing. Now that the latest baseline for cruelty has been established, the next steps won’t seem so bad, right? Paper cut, paper cut, SLASH, paper cut. Or another SLASH? Resist. And be kind = human and humane.
This bill was written by people who hate this country, who hate and loathe the very idea of a decent society, and who specifically hate most of the people who live here and call it home, including a significant fraction of Trump voters. Its passage is a peak moment for the hate cult that calls itself the GOP.
It feels to me like these awful people, and especially Trump, are high on their own supply of triumphalist hate, and that this will bite them in the ass hard. It’s gonna hurt a lot more people, badly, and though I’m prepared to be wrong I don’t see how it doesn’t badly hurt its own makers.
Some variation of Stalin’s purges through the 1930s and Cambodia in the 1980s.
Be honest. When ICE and DHS run out of “illegals” to round up, you think they’re going to give back their budgets and downsize?
They’re already going after legally naturalized citizens and any “birthright” citizens judged to have too much melanin. Stripping people of their citizenship based on undesirable social media posts is just a couple of baby steps away.
Remember when Speaker Johnsonsaid there’d be no cuts to Medicaid?
From the google machine…
- The Senate-passed budget reconciliation bill is estimated to reduce federal Medicaid spending by $1.04 trillion over ten years.
- The House-passed version of a reconciliation bill, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” is projected to cut federal Medicaid spending by more than $800 billion.
… … … … …
Gonna be a lotta dead folk.
