It wouldn’t traditionally be worth noting, but amid a transfer of power that has been marred by violence inflamed by an outgoing president, it’s notable that Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has committed to attending Joe Biden’s inauguration at the nation’s 46th president next week.
Well, as an Arizonan over 75 I’d prefer he stay here and do his job getting sites set up for vaccination. The few that are open are filled for months ahead, none in the east valley. But he’s mostly stayed in his hidey-hole since we’ve become one of the globe’s most infectious locations.
The AZ Republican party is drawing up a censure measure as I write, because they are hell bent on forcing every Republican to follow the Trump line. It’s a form of terror in itself, and we can bet that they will be complicit in whatever comes next that hurts anyone who isn’t a true believer.
I guess that’s what you do when you suddenly find yourself the far right Republican governor of what is now a blue state and you’d really like to have a political career once your term is over. Too bad, so sad.
