A group of current and former organizers for the Arizona Democratic Party are publicly challenging Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s (D-AZ) continued support of the filibuster, amid growing calls from progressive members of her caucus to reform or abolish it.
I truly do not get Krysten Sinema. Manchin, I get. He wants to represent the people of West Virginia as a Democrat, and that means he has to make noise about how he wants to work with Republicans and has to extract mostly minor concessions from the Dems before agreeing to do anything without some R’s on board. And he mostly truly believes what he says!
Sinema came into politics working for Ralph Nader and the Green Party. She came to local prominence as a lefty anti-Iraq War organizer. She got elected to the state legislature as a mainstream Dem, kinda quirky but nothing really objectionable. She moved further right to run for the Senate seat, and now she’s doing her twee centrist showboating act all the damn time and to no clear legislative purpose. Does she actually believe in anything?
Well good god, woman! You should be in the forefront of the movement to get rid of the damn thing standing in the way of the legislation named for your “hero.”
ETA - ah. That is probably a sound assumption now that you mention it.
