I love the image, but unfortunately the Former Presidents Act will give him lifetime Secret Service protection, along with a pension, office, staff, and diplomatic immunity. So those unlucky agents will still be stuck with him.
Only way he doesn’t get that, is if he’s removed from office by impeachment followed by conviction in the Senate. Which ain’t likely. Or, if he’s convicted of a crime after leaving office, and Congress amends the act to remove the Presidential golden parachute for convicted criminals.
I’m unclear on whether he gets the S.S. protection if he resigns before the end of the term. Anyone know? The wording of the act says “removed from office,” which isn’t quite what a resignation is.
