As Dems Walk Infrastructure Tightrope, Charlie Brown Tendencies Threaten Delicate Balance

It’s the classic criticism of Democratic politicians: while Republicans tear up the rulebook and prioritize winning over all else, Democrats insist on teamwork even with bad-faith actors.

Why would McConnell monkey around with the CBO scoring, he doesn’t believe in their numbers anyway.

A fire that water cannot put out… and Pemex claims is “under control” with hundreds of thousands of barrels leak a day… on fire.

I’m just going to poke my head in the door to say hi, given the nature of this post. Blood pressure, need to keep it controlled. Dan Pfeiffer was saying the other day he would love it if people talked about the Democrats as a reaction to the things the Democrats actually said and did. He talked about it the way people talk about world peace, as a thing thirsted for but never to be attained. That said, bye!

That’s insane. How in the hell will they put that out? Red Adair’s long dead.

Dems always, always, bend over backward to be fair, inclusive, etc.

Repbus think to be fair, inclusive, etc. spoils all the fun. It is much more exciting to run with the mob than to sit in a room and listen to everyone’s opinion. The point of being a Repub is to be mean.

It sounds like, once again, Dems are hoping to reach an affirmative agreement with the Party of NO. Good luck with that.

I read somewhere that it was a gas fire from a broken pipe and they were going to shut off the flow. ??? If it is natural gas flaring off at least the impact on the Gulf will be less than if it was crude oil spewing out again. I suppose we should ask the Senators who get their orders from Exxon.

This is the same party that keeps yelling “Democracy is in danger!” and someone like Adam Schiff keeps vowing “We won’t let them do this!” but like their erstwhile historical predecessors of the Weimar Republic, just keep the course to collapse, proud that they “stuck to institutional norms.”

Kaine is the most spineless, milquetoast, uninspiring Democrat in the senate. I maintain to this day that if Hillary had chosen a better VP candidate, she would have won.

Um, er, because he is an unrepentant, corrupt, self-serving asshole??

Red Adair is good but I’m more of a Boots and Coots guy myself. Maybe 'cuz I have their sticker on my hard hat.
There were a few times in remote Eastern Montana where I would pull up window to window on some dusty backroad to a wildcat rig and trade hard hat stickers. It’s part of “transient oil field trash (and damn proud of it)” culture.

ETA Red Adair has a burn on Boots and Coots.

And though it’s often to our detriment, I’m still proud of being one of those Dems.

If the Dem Elite hadn’t rigged up a primary system specifically to deliver the nomination to Hillary, keeping many less-damaged options out of the race entirely, we’d have had a much better shot.

And Kaine is what he is because VA is only a recent Blue State, still very much Purple, and deeply red in many parts outside of the D.C. region in the north. He’s not going to be massively outspoken, but he’s a reliable vote

The fire was put out at 10:45 yesterday morning. Still insanely scary.

Nailed it. You are obviously a Jeopardy champion.

So was I. Once. But with the Republicans now virtually an openly racist and fascist party that obeys no rules and democracy itself in extreme danger (I give its odds of surviving this decade well less than fifty percent), Democrats can no longer afford to proudly adhere to reflexive unilateral disarmament.
