“The U.S. is making mistakes and to my mind, what’s more important and poignant is that we’re not learning from them,” he said.
It’s a bit of a hindrance when one political party is trying to kill you.
Absolutely!
Denying science and reality because dealing with both would require changing behaviors is coming home to roost. I guess this can end of one two ways.
They think we’ll “get used” to 50-100k cases a day. Imagine it’s 1973 and there’s a leak from the Nixon White House, saying they think Americans will get used to a few dozen burglaries and coverups a day.
We are in an extended political state of shock. The worse it gets, the number we get. I’m afraid it looks a little bit like a death spiral.
No matter how many needlessly die, and no matter how many face lingering debilitating health impacts, and no matter how worse it is in the US than elsewhere, Trump and his regime will lie it’s going well.
And at least 35% of voters will agree. It’s why our country is so screwed up.
“It partly depends on us,”
So you’re saying we’re fucked.
If those numbers are even half right, there’s no second term. Period.
The Dems can run on the simple fact that these folks didn’t have to die. As the death toll climbs and is higher among younger people, that’s just going to topple the regime.
And abet those trying to kill you.
Trump directed the CIA to share intelligence information on counterterrorism with the Kremlin despite no discernible reward, former intelligence officials who served in the Trump administration told Just Security .
Vindman retiring from military
Did I need another reason to hate Trump? No. Do I have yet another reason to hate Trump? Yes.
I had predicted about 175k-200k by Labor Day at the lowish range and 250k-300k on the high end. We are on track for the low end number and with another spike, we would be closer to 250k. Basically, we’re talking about a 700 to 1000 fatalities per day to get into that lower end range. To get to the 250k range, we’d need to be at the 1400-1800 per day level. Keep in mind that if states start catching up on the reporting of excess fatalities from earlier in the year, the numbers might increase by 20% from where they are now.
Andrew Noymer, a demographer and associate professor of public health at the University of California, Irvine, is predicting a COVID-related death toll on the high end of the range…
WH Spokesperson: “Mr. Noymer, it says right here, is affiliated with the Dems, and the liberal West Coast wing of their party. They do not love this Occupant, and will make up all manner of desperate stories to discredit him. HOAX!!”
I can’t even begin to imagine the kind of low morale that the US military is experiencing right now.
Does that mean no military promotions or will Senator Duckworth let them go through?
Because according to Mary Trump, Donald is a pathological liar, maybe even a pathological liar extraordinaire? Lying is what Donald does whether he needs to or not.
Fred Trump was such a titanically shitty person that he’s managing to kill hundreds of thousands of people 20 years after he died.
I don’t know if there is any path back to democracy for us. But I know there is no chance as long as the fact that Republican tribal identity is now built on reflexive, reactionary rejection of the very idea that expertise confers at least conditional authority and taking the stupidest, meanest, most aggressively ignorant position possible on every issue to ensure they never have common ground with the hated libs is taboo for the press.
Also the part where noticing that this tribal identity is part and parcel with the party’s degeneration into a one-party authoritarian movement based on ethnic grievance that explicitly rejects any commitment to democratic governance in or out of power, rule of law and acceptance that political homeostasis is necessary to a pro-democracy party’s political health is taboo to the press.
Good. Does this make him eligible for a post in the Biden Administration?
I guess since he retired it’s a mute point
