Arizona House Speaker Who Testified To Jan. 6 Committee Loses To Trump-Backed Challenger

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers (R) on Wednesday lost his bid in the state Senate GOP primary to former state Sen. David Farnsworth, who gained the endorsement of former President Trump. Bowers’ defeat comes months after he testified publicly before the Jan. 6 Select Committee about Trump’s efforts to pressure him into subverting Arizona’s 2020 presidential election results.

Not that I would vote for him (were I able), but I wonder if he could mount a campaign to get on the November ballot as an independent???

If Fransworth was a manly man would he be a Trump backed jerk?

“Honest” politicians who happen to be members of the Republican Party should expect nothing else. What did he think was going to happen? The vast majority of the people supporting the Republicans have sipped the Kool-Aid, and to change now would be to admit they are/were wrong. They are fearful and believe the lies that have been spewed in the media to keep them as the aggrieved Republican voting base. The old Party is dead and has been replaced with operators who are without morals or consciences. New flash: your party has been deceiving you intentionally for decades. Welcome to reality. Now, what say you?

The fever is still raging in quite a few places, but I think bringing a basket of deplorables into November will backfire. If that strange “senator” will vote the right way on the big bill I think the Dems could really pile up some momentum. One thing that and the Treason Party’s own-goal on the veterans bill are doing is really waking people up to the agenda of the haters, which is “pain and suffering for all.” I think some of the usual sit out the election suspects are starting to take notice.

“In his testimony before the Jan. 6 Committee, Bowers pushed back on Trump’s bogus claims of election fraud, saying that Trump’s team failed to provide substantial evidence to back up their claims.”

Republican Cult to Bowers: “How DARE you speak the truth?!”

Will depend on whether or not the State has a ‘sore loser’ rule that would prevent him from trying.

The effectiveness of the January 6th committee seemingly is inversely proportional to the likelihood of politicians like these surviving. I actually thought for a long time after the impeachments that Liz Cheney would survive, because her reputation and connections were that fearsome. But it’s simply no good. The Confederate Party is not going to stop purging itself until it becomes a total wraith. I only hope that somehow it doesn’t regain the power of the wraiths from certain epic tales.

Per Ballotpedia, Arizona enacted a sore loser law in 1970.

I’m hoping that, in this case, it’s maladaptive and leads to extinction.

So, the answer to that, then, is no.

In Arizona it looks like the party of Trump has decided that there is no room for the McCain/Goldwater Republicans. It is time for those Republicans to find another party and to move their money out of the Republican party.

Because they could never, ever vote for a democrat.
