I enjoy the prep work, too. It’s part of the cooking process. Those “prepared meal kits” that Google’s ad algorithms keep hawking to me, where they ship you pre-measured, pre-chopped ingredients that you then combine and cook aren’t my idea of cooking at all. Even picking out the veggies is part of the fun for me. Those sterile somebody-else’s-idea-of-cooking packages just make me so sad, even to look at in the ad clips.
Res ipsa loquitur…
His district, yes (heavily Mormon, very red-- I try not to even drive through it). He’s not representative of the state as a whole.
“The instructions on the certificate of restoration form are very clear to the probation officer or the clerk. They say you will check these records and you will sign off on this based on what the records say. They’re saying that she tricked the probation officer into filling out this form for her. That creates a really scary prospect for people who think they’re being wrongly told they’re not eligible.”
Feature, not a bug.
Wegman’s is definitely regional. They’re not going to expand past where they can manage themselves.
I found them when I was in Binghamton, NY, for a project (along with Spiedies, which I haven’t had since). I love when I can find them on a project site and can use them instead of restaurants for my evening meal. Much cheaper and better quality.
Well I guess he hates the military. I assume he wants to go back to Election Day is the only day that voting can happen, which means either they staff the polls from midnight to midnight, because if you’re working a 12 hour shift then you’re SOL.
You learn eventually there is no unqualified “best,” most of the time anyway, but if you want an audience that goes beyond sophisticates you have to offer them a toehold to understanding. So the America’s Test Kitchen gang will often suggest something that edges a few other good ones out on certain criteria as the best, and they’ll mention some other things that are good in particular ways, and often talk about a best budget option, so it’s useful information no matter where you are. Also they have this “Boot Camp” idea that deals with very basic stuff. If you’re a home cook who already knows everything they talk about in the channel, you’re working at a very advanced level IMHO.
I know here in Wisconsin, the votes can’t be counted in advance either. Can only be counted the day of the election. That’s how I ended up scanning 1600 ballots for my small village back in 2020.
Feature, not a bug.
Same. It’s one of the very few things I miss about the East Coast. (It’s odd, to me, the produce available in the suburbs of NYC was/is consistently better than what’s available here in Iowa. But, I suppose, most of the farms here just grow Soya or Corn, and not much else.)
1,597 for Biden, 3 for trump just to throw off suspicion a little, and 2,500 roundfiled “spoiled” ballots that would’ve been for trump.
Thank you for your Service!
When I go to the supermarket, I fill up my staples first which then allows me to look at the fresh produce and fish and decide what looks good that day. My favorite way to shop.
Why, being required to count valid ballots is obviously worse than the holocaust! Anne Frank didn’t have to count any ballots!!!
Well, they’re in Erie, PA. That’s the closest one. I thought I’s heard that one was coming to Toledo, which would be pretty close. But that hasn’t happened.
Q: What’s wrong with 2022-style voting?
A: Needs moar racism!
Meijer’s selection of greens is bizarrely great. Not sure why they are so devoted to dandelions and turnips, but it’s great.
Wegman’s is amazing. Mom lives near one.
So they majored in animal husbandry—until they got caught at it.

No need to stew over it.
Had a Wegman’s in Concordville, PA, when I was at Astra Zeneca in Wilmington. Store Locator:

I’ve campaigned for them to come to CT, but they’re not interested, which is a shame. Outside of Stew Leonard’s, which has two locations in the western part of the State, we have a real shortage of supermarkets chains. Limited to Stop & Shop, Big Y and ShopRite.
Oh, I enjoy the shopping too. It’s like a treasure hunt. Hey! Fresh okra! Oh good, habaneros. Like that. And the prep work is fun indeed, especially with a sharp knife. I found so many home cooks have this drawerful of woefully dull knives that are no fun to work with that one of my editors asked for a piece about upping your knife game for her December issue. And a chef I talked to said figuring out how to keep your knives sharp (there are many ways, of course) would “vastly improve your food and experience while cooking.” And it’s absolutely true.
