Arizona GOP Senate’s Liaison To ‘Audit’ Unloads About Longstanding Problems | Talking Points Memo

Fun fact: The “P.” in his name stands for Playedlikeacheapfiddle.

Being asked to repeat a lie under oath has had salutary effects before. IIRC during some of the Pennsylvania vote-suppression attempts, the judge asked GOP lawyers as officers of the court whether they were still asserting the claims that they had made in press conferences. Um, nope, your honor.

This “nonsense” as you call it is actually Criminal Fraud and a total waste of millions of Arizonans tax dollars.

Am I the only one who is thoroughly enjoying the poetic (karmic?) justice of Mike Pence’s chances of ever being president are basically zero (maybe negative), all because, in spite of his abject unquestioning toadying and ass-kissing, FatAss has now declared him to be a traitor.

That’s in the Constitution, I think.

Nope, you’re not the only one. You, me, and I think that Lessor Bush kid from Texas, are all enjoying the sight of Trump’s one-way-loyalty. Well, okay, that Bush dude may not be enjoying it, but I know he’s at least aware of it.

In an interview Monday, Bennett had a few things he needed to get off of his chest.

“The reason I am that close to stepping down as liaison is that I cannot be a part of a process that I am kept out of critical aspects along the way that make the audit legitimate, and have integrity, when we produce the final report,” Bennett told talk radio host James T. Harris.

“Unfortunately there have been too many of those situations, and the tip of the iceberg kind of came out last Friday, when I was denied access to the audit itself.”

Ken…Mr Bennet… nothing about this whole exercise is legitimate.

Wake up, open your eyes Ken, please. You’ve been played and by folk with no skill at all.
Jeeebus.

There is nothing…not one single thing about this whole affair that is legitimate other than the vote taken to authorize this stupidity by the Arizona Senate. The ballots have been hand counted three times by election experts and Biden had a narrow victory here in AZ so grow the fuck up AZ Senate and get over yourself. Stop this audit bullshit because it makes you into the fools you are so very publicly. It’s abusively embarrassing to those of us who love our state. SO STOP IT.

Story goes (5 minutes ago), if the voting machines (the one’s they’re using) have to be replaced, it could cost the AZ tax paper up to 9 million!
(don’t anyway tell @darrtown)

THAT’S ARIZONA TAX PAYER MONEY THESE IDIOTS HAVE WASTED. I WOULD HOPE THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE HERE IN AZ HAVE THEIR PAYCHECKS DOCKED TO MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE.
Goddamned fucking bullshit.
And the tally machines are gonna be replaced.
(walks off mumbling to himself)

Except it’s not an if… it’s not a conditional. It’s already been announced by the AZ Secretary of State and the Federal DHS that those machines have been tampered with. The seals were apparently broken and no one knows what mischief may have gone on in them. They have to be replaced.

It’s always one of my 1st questions when these state reps make ridiculous unnecessary demands. Then I read it was going to be privately funded (billionaires I’m sure). So I figured, let them look stoopid, voters aren’t paying. Wrong assumption.

Reminded of my most memorable experience driving through AZ on our way home (wife and I early '70’s) from NY to CA road trip), passing by a large tattered billboard that read: Impeach Earl Warren

Because the chain of custody has been broken to shit, you can’t. But, at least here in Virginia, there are four independent counts on the number of ballots and voted ballots.

  • The printer has records how many ballots were shipped, and the Registrar’s Office on how many were received.
  • All ballots, voted and unvoted are retained and sealed (ie, locked up with security).
  • Pollbook records show how many voted.
  • Scanner records show many ballots were recorded.
  • Scanner “odometer” is recorded separately from scanner printout.

By adding and subtracting these numbers various ways, you can verify whether any ballots “appeared” or “disappeared.”

As long as the chain of custody isn’t broken, it’s pretty near impossible to sneak any ballots in or out.

Once the county lost custody of the physical ballots, recounts are invalid on the face of it. The ballots are tainted by that action and they can never regain legitimacy. The best use for those ballots now is for wrapping fish.

That’s only part of it. This is part of their neofascist revolution narrative. They are clearly borrowing from and alluding to shit like what’s going on in Cuba and the subtext is essentially things like “Castro kept political prisoners…we need an uprising…if they can rise up against tyranny, we should be able to as well.” Fundraising is ALWAYS part of everything they’re doing and saying, but I would put this particular bit of propaganda in the category of being more focused on the eventual incitement of widespread violence than it is the incitement of donations.

Maybe you’re right, it just looks more like pure grift than ideology to me because they’re doing such a piss-poor job of getting any real messaging out. Whoever is running this is stumbling around, hiding things, upsetting their own Senate liaison, dragging things out as long as possible. To me, that’s the hallmark of your basic low-rent scam operation for profit.

I know there are R’s who would very much like to use the AZ fraudit to enact more voter suppression laws. But this is turning into such a PR disaster that I don’t think it’s going to be anything they can actually point to, without getting laughed out of the room.
