Riots, mobs, looters, MS-13, totalitarian oppression — it’s all waiting for you on the far side of Nov. 3, 2020. And the sole purpose of the first night of the Republican National Convention on Monday, it seemed, was to remind you of the perceived danger ahead.

Thank you Matt for watching and reporting - so we don’t have to.

“Last time, Joe’s boss was Obama. This time, it would be Pelosi, Sanders, and the squad,” Haley read. “Their vision for America is socialism.”

Video link on Michael Cohen’s ad targeting Trump during RNC’s Lie/Propaganda Fest
The people who know Donald Trump best are sounding the alarm: our country cannot survive four more years of a Trump presidency.
In our latest ad, a former member of his inner circle & "fixer" — @MichaelCohen212 — has a dire warning for us all. #RNC2020 pic.twitter.com/suPUODOdwz

If you take a step back, this stuff is truly, truly frightening. These people are all unhinged; if this were happening in any other country we’d be laughing and considering it a failed state. Hmm…
At what point will major media outlets realize this is all fearmongering propaganda and stop airing it?
Also with DJT speaking three times tonight, I cannot imagine what he has planned for his grand finale.

I thought they were planning on being more optimistic.
They might want to look up the meaning of that word.

This is all the stuff of Right-wing radio (and will be dutifully delivered tomorrow). It is difficult to fathom how this will grow their support among people who are not already cult members. I guess it might be some kind of voter suppression by anxiety (people not choosing to vote for anyone), but there just aren’t enough low information angry white folks left to capture, not in swing states anyway.

Rs paraphrase Roosevelt: “We have nothing but fear itself.”

I don’t get the doubling down on the crazy stuff, the delusional narrative, the fear and loathing. Maybe I’m missing something. Trump already has the crazies and assholes locked up. How does this work to increase his appeal elsewhere?

This democrat will never vote for someone who calls themselves a democratic socialist. I’ll leave it blank.

He spoke three times tonight? By the end of four days of this he might have ran his mouth the way he does possibly a dozen times. As to your point about “fear-mongering propaganda”, that’s all he’s got. Four nights of repetition of the same crap, and considering his limited vocabulary, is going to wear very, very thin

Point is ( eventually i’m going to send my invoice to the Sanders camp) Bernie is willing to do this and work with loathsome people (Gaetz) for a noble cause.

Can we imagine what they would be saying if Sanders was the nominee? Why Bernie’s true believers didn’t see that makes me think ideology was more important to them than winning?

Simply, i would’ve preferred a younger candidate, but either man would have been cool.

He’s not the nominee, and he never really had a shot at it.
But remember, “socialist” is a word that the G.O.P. uses to frighten its base. They use it to describe anyone with even vaguely progressive policies.
Sanders’ socialism is mostly an affectation, anyway, not unlike his steadfast self-identification as an independent. He likes the sound of it. It makes him all mavericky. There aren’t any real socialists in the American political mainstream. Offhand, I can’t name one.
