Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to be impeached Thursday after a bombshell report exposed that he’d received gifts, including years of luxury trips, from a billionaire Republican megadonor — and didn’t disclose them.
Yep. Hopefully they impeach him if/when the DP retakes the House. I mean it’s possible that there are still a few members left in the GOP Congress that are willing to root out blatant corruption like this…although, frankly, most of them have been booted from the GOP or left on their own at this point.
No 2/3 vote to convict in the senate. His health will have to go downhill to get rid of this horror of a justice. We can thank Papa Bush for this appointment.

Unfounately, this has to come from democratic senators or it is a non-starter. Lets see if the story has legs. It really should be all over the MSM. It’s a big scandal although no one should be surprised that Thomas is corrupt.
The famous couple has been behaving as though they are immune to oversight or accountability.
The best thing right now is information on these reported actions and I am quite positive that most people are alarmed.
When people (not the Democratic Party, per se) take center stage w/r/t the aforementioned alarm, that is when some movement can shift perspectives and realizations that this is not normal for a Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) described an impeachment last July as “not realistic” and “a mistake,” but also said that Thomas should show “good judgment.”
“If this court is going to be credible, it has to be as apolitical as possible,” he said. [emphasis added]
The court doesn’t have to be “credible” as long as its rulings stand and are followed. They lost credibility quite awhile ago.

I mean if a “liberal” justice did this, every Republican would be demanding his resignation every day until that justice resigned or died.
But let’s not forget the corruption of this court is not confined to Thomas or his wife, least we forget who Alito dines with or who John Roberts wife takes money from.
Clarence Thomas has been a national embarrassment since his confirmation hearing many years ago. It is long past time for him to leave or be removed.
Thank goodness we still have Dick Durbin to help maintain the bipartisan comity that keeps our nation peaceful, just, and socially cohesive. I mean, what would happen if we advocated for anything that might make our Republican Party overlords angry?

Asking for a politician of any stripe to be “apolitical” is a pointless exercise.
As bad as all of this looks for Thomas, none of it matters. He’ll never be impeached and, even if he were, the Senate would never vote to remove him. He could probably shoot up a high school with an AR-15 and still keep his seat on the SC.
Our government not just Thomas has been a national embarrassment.

The Justices make the rules about themselves as to what they’re willing to do. I can’t see who will make any of these robed assholes get a conscience and do the moral and ethical thing here. There is literally no one that can make them act within appropriate standards. The alternative is Thomas is impeached, which even with a Democratic majority in Congress is doubtful they would do, or have the guts to do. So this is what we have; massive unchecked corruption that usually goes unnoticed until years out from being committed by the offending justice. No incentive for any of these corrupt pieces of shit to act with propriety and equal justice under the law. Just a bunch of fucking hypocrites. All of them. Sadly, the new partisan jackoffs that are on the court are getting early lessons in how to get away with fucking over the country from old hands like Thomas and Alito.
