AOC On Ivanka: ‘Being Someone’s Daughter Actually Isn’t A Career Qualification’ | Talking Points Memo

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) added her two cents to the controversy swirling around Ivanka Trump after a clip surfaced from the G20 summit in which the first daughter appears to be inserting herself into a conversation of world leaders, to the chagrin of some of those gathered.

Even worse, that “someone” is not qualified either.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) added her two cents …

Let us condescend together.

Good for AOC for pointing out what is obvious to some. And, Ivanka was in her little pink fru-fru dress with that blonde lanky hair that she needs to get over trying to talk to world class leaders. She has no class and she’s yet another embarrassment to our country. I picture the European leaders huddled together later, saying WTF is she doing here?

Tell that to Meghan McCain.

Sounded like she added as much substance to the conversation as her daddy ever does.

And what scares me are the religious nuts grooming Ivanka to run for President in 2024!

And that was pretty much a perfect illustration of what her family has done – transformed a major power into an embarrassing interloper in the grownup conversation who has no idea this is now true.

Actually being the owners kid is the one needed, if you dad owns the business.

The attack should be focused on Individual-1, not his daughter. Trump looks weak and incompetent because he can’t attend a major event without Ivanka, his security blanket, at his side.

But this is not a sitcom and daddy doesn’t own a closet company, though son in law does sell real estate. These thugs are not our real life Modern Family.

It wasn’t just this conversation episode, which you can’t point out too often was a video released by the French government as an obvious rebuke. There was also a video readout by Ivanka where she awkwardly states that blah blah they had meetings blah blah the meetings were about this and that. No actual content because presumably the meetings accomplished nothing. All you were left with was the sense that Trump is traveling with this fake adviser of his because he’s getting down to a type of bunker where home or abroad he’s surrounded with the few people on this earth he trusts, and qualifications be damned. I’m no John Bolton fan but they literally sent him to Mongolia while this was happening. Amazing.

And brought Tucker? WTF.

With all due respect – NO. She is an adult, a grown woman who, if she wasn’t so coddled and privileged, would pull her head from her ass and realize that she has no business being there. Don’t forget that she is also a ‘business woman’ who sells to markets and applies for trademarks etc. She knows exactly WTF she is doing. And so does daddy. This is a family grift pure and simple and she should take shit for being the frilly skunk at the adult’s garden party.

Did Chelsea Clinton get this memo?

What’s the pay scale for a rookie network news correspondent with no news experience whatsoever?

Six-hundred thousand bucks!!!

That’s according to Politico’s Dylan Byers and Maggie Haberman, who report that a prospect who came on board NBC News in November 2011 snared just that level of annual compensation. She was hired to do feel-good stories as part of NBC News’s “Making a Difference” franchise. Her name is Chelsea Clinton.

Trump: Unacceptable. White Privilege is in the constitution.

AOC is perhaps the best communicator on the Dems side. I would put Warren and Harris in her category as well, but I’m giving AOC the edge b/c her use of ‘concentration camps’ worked as there is far more coverage of these detention centers and what is happening to children after she used the term than before. I know it coincided with gruesome press reports, but I doubt such reports would’ve entered the national consciousness but for her messaging.

Although I believe they are BOTH to blame, you cannot say this often enough. The woman KNOWS what she is doing and it is embarrassing.
