We’ve really got to stop saying this so categorically. It will probably make no difference to most of his base. We don’t know that for certain; we don’t know how many people in that base have doubts that every new outrage intensifies. We don’t now how many have quietly leached away. But there were literally millions of non-supporters who voted for him anyway in 2016. Many will not vote for him now because of all these revelations. It makes a difference.

Fair point. I’m defining his base as that unshakeable 40-ish%. Supporters outside of that block might be swayed by this, but I don’t consider them part of the base.

I have no reason – less than zero – to disbelieve her.

Hate to tell you men this, but most women are familiar with and have encountered this type of man and know what he’s capable of. This type of story matters because it will remind us and motivate us to act and vote, even if we otherwise stay silent.

His base doesn’t care, it may cause them concern if he also is accused by a woman of color. But not for what he is accused of, but that he didn’t stay among his own.
