Amid Legal Fight, OH Lets Counties Set Up Multiple Drop Boxes … At The Same Location | Talking Points Memo

After a state appeals court said Friday that Ohio’s top elections official has the discretion to limit the number of ballot drop boxes per county, Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced that he was still prohibiting counties from setting up drop boxes at sites other than their county election offices. He is, however, letting them set up multiple boxes on their office grounds.

I sure hope the Biden administration completely overhauls the voting system in this country.

Along with campaign finance reform, YES, we need a national rule governing how votes are cast and counted so all states play by the same rules.

The only problem is unless the Democrats are willing to do something about the Republican Supreme Court, and this is before Amy Coney Barrett, none of this will matter because “corporations are people”.

I kept telling all the Ohioans as soon as DeWhine started his “reopening” nonsense in APRIL and even before Acton’s departure that the state GOP are part and parcel of the same Confederate Party mechanism looking to screw us over nationwide. No, they told me, we’re still “moderates.” Well, now that it looks like the will of the people may not favor their Fuhrer anymore, looky here.

The midterms can’t be a repeat of 2010 or we are so screwed.

If Ohio had an official state agricultural product, it would have to be the idiot.

National absolute right to vote, vote by mail, automatic registration, ratfucking strictly prohibited as felony, that sort of thing. Whatever can be done short of Constitutional Amendment, while we work diligently on those.

Saw Kornacki on MSNBC. Vice President Biden’s Favorability +2.4. Don the Con’s at -12.6 (Senator Clinton was at -9.6).

The Conman and his sycophant’s are going to have to cheat on steroids to win this thing.

I have my NC mail in ballot but I haven’t quite decided if I’m going to vote that way or not. And if I do I’m not sure about mailing it of dropping it off. Hummmm decisions decisions!

Q. Why does this ‘solution’ sound like a 9 year old suggested it?
A. Because it is like how a 9 year old might respond to a question about increasing drop boxes when they really don’t want to facilitate voting, and know the other side has a valid point: not enough drop boxes to enable the citizenry to vote. It gives the 9 year old a talking point that sounds good but doesn’t do anything to alleviate the problem. A quintessentially Republican gambit.

I think voting matters are controlled by the states, so I don’t know if Biden could do it directly. He might need to resort to something like making any and all federal money to states contingent on better voting systems.

Of course…angry KKKultists shouldn’t have to drive all over creation to find the ballot boxes to set on fire. No no…they should be conveniently located in one spot…

That’s the plan…

I think you’re both correct, DeWine took the position that public health was important. Maybe realizing that it’s not good to kill off your voting base. While voting matters, and especially limiting voting is just baked into the OH Republican’s DNA.
