America Starts To Reject Election Deniers - TPM – Talking Points Memo

In the majority of swing states the GOP put forth state-level candidates who didn’t only deny the results of the 2020 elections.

Hey, but dontcha know, election deniers never lose.

Frist. First time, I think…

Just checking the numbers from AZ: Finchem is down 4% and likely to lose. The other key race, for Governor, is within .5%. Masters went down by 5%. So somewhere between 2 and 5% of Republicans couldn’t hold their noses and vote for Masters or Finchem. The Trumpiest Republicans are too Trumpy for a significant number of Republicans. There are a few Rs remaining who haven’t sold their souls or who may have retained their hearts and/or minds.

I’m waiting for the stories about reactionary infighting and back biting after this election.
Ya know, reactionaries in disarray.

Whatever other disappointments we’ve suffered thus far, I am personally taking great pleasure in having contributed my vote (and a few $ early on) to Maggie Hassan’s mopping the floor with that nincompoop, Don Bolduc (aka: General Flintstone).

I’m up north of the Whites in very rural northern NH, so-called “Trump Country.” I was quite glad to see our old mill city, Berlin, go for Maggie. Though we did also go for Sununu. At least he’s not one of the Trumpest filth.

I’ve been out of the country for six months up at my place in northern Canada, and somewhat to my surprise, most of the Trump flags and billboards and F Biden signs that had been up for a year and a half disappeared. Yes, there’s still plenty of Trumpscum around here, but the crazy adoration of the lying racist coddler of homophobes and anti-Semites Trump seems to have finally faded. Good.

OT

I was hoping today would be the day indictments would begin raining down on Mal-d-Lardo. So far, not so good.

The last time, I wrote post cards until my hand cramped into a claw. I suppose we’re going there again.

Michigan Secretary of State incumbent Jocelyn Benson fended off a challenge from Kristina Karamano, who claims to have personally witnessed voter fraud in action during the 2020 contest.

She also was exceedingly worried about Satan and demons taking over our lovely state. She was whacko in the extreme, even without the election denial.

As a recipient of election post cards thank you. I appreciate them, they’re wonderful!

Maybe those Rs just didn’t have the will to believe that so many election deniers possess. The deniers, conspiracy theorists, etc. seem to have a view of human nature even more pessimistic than the most hardline Protestant denominations.

TPM: copy editors.

Using ‘her ticket-mate’ immediately after two female names in the preceding sentence leads the reader to initially associate ‘her’ with the immediately-preceding feminine name. The second sentence should have read ‘So did Benson’s ticket-mate’.

A salient feature of the Unites States of America is that crazies and halfwit shysters and complete assholes are competitive with perfectly normal political candidates all across the country.

The epitome of this is Walker v. Warnock.

That is, though there are signs the anti-democratic Republicans (that is almost a pleonasm) don’t yet constitute a “red wave”, they have enough support so that almost half the country is engaged in undermining their own democracy – out of sheer idiocy and spite. That is a very deep hole that is still being dug, out of which the country must climb. How did America get so fucked?

Donald Trump.

And as further answer to @dominic, that would be the Donald Trump who said he “loved the un-educated”. The GOP has been working for decades to expand their ranks.

Soon, soon. Maybe after the Georgia runoffs. Maybe between Thanksgiving and Christmas, or Christmas and New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Eve and the Super Bowl, or the Super Bowl and Memorial Day, or Memorial Day and Labor Day, et cetera ad infinitum ultramque.

Interesting take.
I am alarmed by the trend here in AZ. At midnight Kelly (Sen) was up >15%, Fontes (SoS) >16% and Hobbs (Gov) >10%. Most of the outstanding votes were in Maricopa and Pima counties.
Now Hobbs’ lead has narrowed to .22% and The leads of Kelly and Fontes have shrunk to ~ 4.5%. Only ~67% of the vote is tabulated. If this trend continues I don’t see any of them winning.
