Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI) isn’t done schooling President Trump on Twitter.
In a Monday morning tweet, the former Republican hit back at Trump’s tweet earlier in the morning in which he railed against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for what the President called “the most unfair trial in the history of the U.S. Congress.”
Turned out to be exactly ONE GOP elected official or member of congress that actually believed the “principles” so frequently talked about. And he is not a Republican anymore, and most likely won’t be a member of congress for long.
All good. This is going to be a pause that refreshes. The religious among the Republican Senators are going to be hearing a certain amount about right and wrong over the holidays. They can consider what it means to take an oath, here to the Constitution and the rule of law. Just maybe some of them will realize that they, their families, and the American people deserve a real trial, using all means to get at the truth, including all possible witnesses and documents. We’ll see.
The guy with “the best words” almost always uses the wrong ones in the dumbest, most ignorant ways. Somebody needs to tell him. Javanka went to nice colleges. Shouldn’t this be part of their (paid by taxpayers) WH jobs? Why aren’t they serving the public interest like the Constitution says they should?
What I was impressed with, going forward, is Amash’s correction of the clueless POTUS.
Since Trump was always ignorant of the Constitution and, after three years in Office, is still ignorant, those who support him are doing so out of demagoguery and compromise.
Two things which cannot be washed away by a title of U.S. Senator, bound by an Oath to that Constitution.
In my view, McConnell’s statements about “working with the WH” once the Articles of Impeachment are handed over to the Senate are:
as big a dereliction of his duty as what Trump is being impeached for
disqualifiers for having any role in any Senate Impeachment trial whatsover
It’s pretty fkn sorry that the Republican Party would work so hard to mislead and lie to the American people and the only one serving that had the ballz to refute them with FACTS had to leave.
It’s like he’s auditioning to be a House Manager, and I’m thinking it might be a good idea. He brings a moral clarity on this particular issue -and has for months now -that would contrast well with Republican sophistry. And as a non-Democrat, it becomes almost bipartisan, or at least not strictly partisan.
Yeah, they will be hearing that Trump is the Messiah sent by god, and they should do whatever it takes to protect them from the spawns of Satan democrats. Not a single white religious leader (and very few others) with a flock to fleece is going to tell them to take on Trump, collections come first. And that goes beyond Evangelicals; Mormons, Catholics and mainstream protestants from red states are unlikely censure Trump.
what the President called “the most unfair trial in the history of the U.S. Congress.”
This is the PR strategy: paint the House impeachment as a trial, then describe the Senate aquittal in the actual trial as an appeals court undoing the partisan error of a lower court.
Senator Patrick Leahy D-VT understands what the senate must do. But he’s a Democrat so of course he understands the obligation that body has.
The Senate has a job to do. And it’s not to rig the trial in favor of — or against — President Trump. Our job is to follow the facts and abide by the Constitution. An acquittal based on anything less would hardly be an acquittal at all.
As one of his constituents this almost makes me wanna throw a few shekels his way. He’ll be going up against a well-funded newbie who is also a billionaire’s grandson, that just got into the multi-candidate race, the scion of the Meijer grocery store chain, which is big in this area and in the midwest in general. Still…I’m reluctant to do so until I know more about what Dems will be running against him. Amash is proving to be quite adept however at getting under tRumplethinskin’s orange applied hide…and for that I am quite grateful.
Somebody has to teach his know-nothings and this royal tangerine dumbshit how impeachment and removal works. tRump has intentionally conflated the indictment and vote to impeach in the House with the trial, on purpose I suspect, to pretend he really hasn’t been impeached in his own delusional mind and to convince others he’s now out of the woods.
