Bearing in mind he’s an unapologetic winger, Amash as impeachment manager is an idea not without merit.
I know I disagree with Justin Amash on a number of things, but damn I admire his integrity.
Let’s not go too far!
Schooling Trump is like trying to teach a pig to sing. It gets nowhere and annoys the pig.
It was more of a tribulation than a trial.
Sadly, their aren’t enough of them to form a group. That would take at least two…
I live in Slotkin’s district next door. Most of Amash’s positions are anathema to me, but his moral clarity and willingness to stand up for his beliefs are exceptional in the current political environment. It seems unlikely that Grand Rapids is quite ready to elect a Democrat, so I’d be inclined to send some love to Amash to help him fend off much worse Republican options. If, as expected, the Dems keep the House it seems very likely they will continue to work with Amash to find common ground on some policies and programs – something we desperately need.
I am tired of the talk about bipartisanship when it comes to impeachment. Republicans have welded themselves to tRump. They have literally staked their reputations on getting him out of this mess. Meanwhile tRump, sensing he has cover, is continuing to obstruct and lie his way through this. The media isn’t helping here by parroting Republican talking points and booking Republicans on shows to piss and moan about unfair treatment under rules they established and lying about everything to make tRump look innocent.
If the Dems want bipartisanship, they will have to drop impeachment, quit the party and become Republicans. Supposedly Republicans are privately scared, but publicly fighting tooth and nail for tRump, so at what point does the public act fall away?
Amash may no long call himself a Republican, but he certainly isn’t a Democrat, and I don’t see him as a reliable manager.
We will need to see some tax documents before we can submit this to the Guiness Book.
It used to be this way, where Democrats and Republicans could disagree on policies but understand the Constitutional principles and stick to them, when both sides could find things to respect about the other even as they thought their policy proposals were stupid, or even dangerous. Sure, there were people who were assholes about it, but mostly we got along.
That’s really changed, really since Gingrich and Republicans took over with the goal of taking out Clinton, and now we’re at the point that few Republicans are willing to stand up and openly defend the Constitution, and fewer still will stick to it when they get yelled down by the base and Trump. Amash is one of the few, and he had to leave the party…I don’t agree with much about his policy, but I wholeheartedly support his view of the Constitution and hope he continued to stick to his principles despite the pressure to shut him down.
It seems to me that Pelosi should wait long enough for his tax returns to be revealed. I bet even the GOP couldn’t refrain from voting ‘Guilty’ once it’s revealed how much funding he gets from Russia.
As my current Representative, while he is principled, he is not a friend to the average American. He is a Libertarian who mascarades as a Republican. Just look at his voting record. While I like his currant stance on tRump, he should NOT be cloned.
Amish, the man of most integrity among the Repubs.
Even though it’s a low bar, it is quite admirable of him to accept all that which will come his way as the price for standing up for the country.
I’m exhausted by it as well. As if “bipartisan” is equivalent to what’s correct or proper in a particular situation.
It’s a game the media plays, instigated by Republicans, where they’d rather focus on that than the evidence at hand -which is overwhelming.
This reminds me of one of my favorite sayings:
“A horse that can count to 10 is a remarkable horse, not a remarkable mathematician.”

And left after reading Mueller, remember. This stuff piles up so fast.
B. Streisand had her favorite dog cloned, resulted in two more just like that one, so unless a cloned Amash results in a dog’s head on a man’s body, it might work.

GOWRON: D’Ghor, what are you doing? I didn’t want to believe the things he said about you yesterday, but if you can stand here and murder this pathetic little man, then you have no honor and you have no place in this Hall. (Gowron and the council turn their backs of D’Ghor in discommodation, and security take him away).
GOWRON: A brave Ferengi. Who would have thought it possible?
Reminds me of The Fly, with Vincent Price.
