Alaska GOP Pledges To Find Primary Challenger For Murkowski For Convicting Trump In Impeachment Trial

Lisa needs to figure out that caucusing with a party that would happily throw her to the mob isn’t exactly survival-oriented behavior.

One hopes!

As for moving her towards the left, or replacing her with someone better – I’d say these are fine goals, achievable when enough Alaskans think they are.

Better a Begich than either one. I have no love for Murkowski. The games she played with ACB have me wanting to see her head on a platter almost as much as Donnie does.

A Caribou Barbie opportunity?

She’s crazy enough for T****.

Yeah, the GOP tried this once before and she still won:

If they want to split the state’s Republican vote so that a Democrat can win, I’m ok with that.

This will be a great place for Republicans to pour money into an internecine battle, provided Donald Trump gives them some to do it with.

We can all worry that this is an indication of things getting worse, but from a big-picture perspective it’s a net gain for liberals and moderates. This kind of thing simply makes the Republican party look less and less competent to govern at a time when a lot of lifelong Republicans are looking at them with a lot of skepticism.

Oh God, NO! I’ve just managed to excise her name from my conscious memory. Please don’t awaken those nightmares!

“I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be — in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator.”

I must necessarily support any good-faith effort to alter our electoral system so that the winners more accurately and faithfully represent the views of their constituents–even when it spits out somebody I don’t particularly like!

Yeah I think Palin is the GOPs candidate and if that’s the case Murkowski should get more liberal because Trump and Palin would occupy the minds of a solid 80% of republicans.

It’s the ultimate retcon erasure of McCain in the Republican Cinematic Universe.

Alaska’s new system favors a moderate in the primary:

But in August 2022, it won’t be just Republican voters who decide whether Murkowski should advance to the November ballot. She and whoever else wants the seat, of any party, will be on the same ballot for all primary voters. The top four will advance to the general election, and voters will rank them on the November ballot.
The open primary rewards moderation, Kendall said, because candidates can make their case to the entire constituency, rather than only the party faithful.

Sounds like she is going to benefit from the new system.

All she has to do is to float that she will switch parties now, and you will have valiant Alaskan and national Republicans kissing her ass raw.

I was wondering the same thing. Is there any credible Democrat in Alaska who can really challenge Murkowski or the Trumper who replaces her?

This is likely a real opportunity because other credible Republicans are likely to shy away from taking on Murkowski given she won as a write-in last time.

Yes. As @pluckyinky and others have said, Murkowski is hardly a reliable vote for us – but so long as she’s in power, I’m glad she’s not a completely reliable vote for the Republicans, either.

Can Alaskans do better? Maybe we can find ways to help.

I was thinking Bristol Meth Palin, perhaps. She’s outta work.

Just about my perspective.

The GQP should be making major investments in robotics as they seem to believe that all members of the party, especially elected members should work, speak in lockstep. Having everyone a robot seems like a win and they would be happier.

This will not age well for the Alaska GOP.

And I suspect it won’t take long.

With the GOP, it is a race to the bottom.

Yeah OK Alaska…DO let your ‘state GOP’ lead you around by the nose. I have a niece who is a representative in the Republican state House…She voted for a fellow Republican for Speaker to break a 4 week tie so they could get on with their work and the state GOP threatened to primary her because it wasn’t the Republican THEY wanted even though nobody could do jack sht. Ugly name calling, RINO BS, etc. etc. to ONE OF THEIR OWN. Basically she told them to go fk themselves.
