Attorney General Merrick Garland is addressing the Justice Department on Wednesday, providing an update on one of the biggest investigations in the DOJ’s history: the probe into the Capitol insurrection.
To date, the investigation has led to the arrests of more than 700 people, with federal prosecutors estimating that up to 2,500 participants in the January 6 insurrection could eventually face charges.
Wow, that’s gonna really disappoint a whole TPM cohort…
A year is long in regular time, but a blink in judicial time, especially with multiple moving parts and literally hundreds, if not thousands of participants involved in the coup attempt. So I continue to keep the faith.
I welcome the update and Garland’s reassurance that the DoJ stands ready to do it’s duty.
