When he wrote the song about his “pain” when his child fell from a window, I thought that him excusing his failure as a absent father by appealing to a god somewhere out there was not believable. It never resonated with me at all.

I never followed him either but after I read Patti Boyds* book I couldn’t stand him and he has done nothing but cement that opinion in the years since then.

*She remained friendly with George Harrison and said he helped her out when she was having financial problems.
