We all know how they really feel.
My new neighbor, who belongs to a less mainstream church, is going with a group of people to Israel. She didn’t like mask-wearing during Covid, although being near Ann Arbor, she had no choice in certain stores. She absolutely refused to get the vaccine. I think she believes that if she’s deserving, God will save her. Right.
She said she went to a meeting of the group going and was angry that some were wearing masks. She said she asked them if they were going to wear masks in Israel. I wanted to tell her that whatever they decided to do, it was their decision, not hers! Instead, I said that she and I were never going to agree about any part of it, so there was no use getting into it. Really though, she has some nerve dictating to others making personal decisions about a health issue like this. That’s how these people think though. She’s very nice otherwise, but I don’t see a lasting friendship developing.
I was surprised yesterday when she told me Israel does not require the vaccine to enter the country. I suppose that would hurt the feeling of the Orthodox Jews there. Seems crazy to me and very dangerous for anyone unvaccinated who travels there.
