After Ban, Tlaib Requests Special Permission To Enter Israel To See Grandmother

My first thought was that Trump is trying to turn the Jewish vote against the Dems by putting them in this position. The racism involved is just an another bonus. Fortunately, AIPAC actually did something right, for once

Part of her statement :

ā€œThe Israeli government used my love and desire to see my grandmother to silence me and made my ability to do so contingent upon my signing a letter – reflecting just how undemocratic and afraid they are of the truth my trip would reveal about what is happening in the State of Israel and to Palestinians living under occupation with United States support,ā€ the lawmaker wrote.

She said visiting her family under such ā€œoppressive conditions meant to humiliate me would break my grandmother’s heart.ā€

I’m really tired of hearing Israel being called the only working democracy in the Middle East. Where is the democracy in Israel?

Trump cruelty at work. He’deny Tlaib the chance to see her grandmother if he could out of pique. One of trump’s life long characteristics is his cruelty and enjoyment of beating up on those he sees as vulnerable.
That man is evil and has no redeeming qualities I can find.

He is a petty sadist.

Like here, a ā€œpartialā€ democracy, depending on certain qualifications.

Further to my comment above: Tlaib is only one of a number of House Dems who are six times better strategic thinkers than Fat Don and his clownish enablers.

As it happens, I wrote a little about this meshugaas last night: first here and then a coda, here.

Where is the democracy in Israel?

Oh, come on. It’s just as much a democracy as any other apartheid state you care to mention.

Following Trump’s diktat is dissing America?

Can’t you just hear the dialogue:

Trump: Shut them out.
Netanyahu: But Congress will think we are being disrespectful to America.
Trump: How about I just tell you to do it?
Netanyahoo: Well, okay. But if Tlaib asks to see her granny and promises to shut up while here, we’re going to do it.

Also, the right loves to hate them some Muslims. Enemy of my enemy, etc.

I have to go, but let me just say that while I’m extremely proud of Rep. Tlaib, my heart breaks for her.

America banned suspected communists for a long time. How different is the idea is Israel banning BDS supporters?

And for the Palestinians as a whole.

From the story:

Has the West Bank been formally annexed now?

I believe it has. Netanyahu claimed it a month or so ago. RATified by trump shortly after Netanyahu’s statement.

The part where Muslim Israeli citizens have the right to vote. Some of the surrounding Arab entities haven’t even got that far.

How many checkpoints do the Muslims have to go thru to vote? How many checkpoints do the Palestinians have to go thru to do anything? How many illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land do the Palestinians have to put up with? Having the vote and being able to use it to further one’s causes are two different things. When will the Palestinians who were forced out of Israel after the 67 war be able to return and vote even though they were born in Palestine/Israel? What is going on in Israel is Jim Crow gone real bad.
I would not defend the surrounding Arab entities, except maybe Jordon for taking in so many Palestinian refugees.

But keep sending us your citizen’s tax dollars.
