If this was a serious effort, Chris Wray would start by slapping cuffs on William Barr and Mike Pompeo and any number of GOP enablers who have assisted in the dissemination of Russian propaganda designed to undercut our democracy.

they wrote that “voters have a role to play too” in countering foreign influence and that a “well-informed and vigilant republic is the best defense against disinformation.”

So, apparently, we have a role, but the Senate doesn’t. The press should be all over Mitch McConnell right about now, to grill him incessantly about why he refuses to safeguard our elections.

Who convinced him that they need to look like serious people all of a sudden?

I would love to know the backstory here. Did they tell Trump anything? Did they have to threaten Barr and Pompeo to get them to sign on?

Obviously, none of them are bothered by the sheer hypocrisy of their actions.

After officials asserted in the statement that the “level of coordination and communication between the federal government and state, local, and private sector partners is stronger than it’s ever been.”

“In fact, it’s almost as strong as the level of coordination and communication between the federal government and the Russian government.”

OT: it only took 20 years of being a completely shit political commentator, but Tweety managed to get himself shitcanned from MSNBC finally. Oh happy day.

Yup:
From the NYT article:

In a brief monologue, Mr. Matthews said that he had agreed to step down “after conversations” with network executives, adding that his exit “isn’t for a lack of interest in politics.” He also acknowledged giving “compliments on a woman’s appearance that some men, including me, might have once incorrectly thought were O.K.”

This is weird—I assume it is part of a Trump 2020 effort to discredit some Democratic candidate.

“They spread false information and propaganda about political processes and candidates on social media in hopes to cause confusion and create doubt in our system,”

Yeah, that really sounds like Trump. . . .and quite a few other Trumpistas.

For all the lamenting about Russian Bots and Bernie Bros costing Hillary the election, Tweety and his asshole sexism and non-stop, idiotic defense of the conventional wisdom was worth 1,000,000 Russian bots to the Trump campaign. After the shit he pulled comparing Bernie to Nazis and his sexist bullshit with Warren in the past couple weeks, I’m very happy to be telling Tweety to GO FUCK YOURSELF. God knows blowing himself on air was all he was good at, time to expand it to full penetration you piece of shit.
