Abbott Sued For Ordering Investigations Of Parents With Transgender Children

Texas officials have already begun investigating parents of transgender children following Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) abrupt directive against care for trans youth in the state last week. And a parent who works for the state agency carrying out the governor’s order — and one of the first parents in the state targeted by an anti-trans rights probe — is waging a legal battle against it.

I feel for this woman, her child, the rest of her family and all the trans children in Texas. But let’s face it, Greg Abbott is a pig who should be roasted on a spit. He is as evil as they come.

when does TX start bombing other states?

So much for those vaunted parental rights…

One would think that Abbott’s vile directive is a HIPAA violation.

It’s certainly a violation of humanity.

In reality Abbot doesn’t really care if he ever gets to jail a parent. After today it no longer matter at all, he only wanted to show the Good Christians of Texas that he cares about their concerns and have their vote in today’s primary.

Christ, what an asshole. Why does he hate transgendered children? How is this any different than gay conversion therapy? Has he ever talked with a physician who specializes in caring for transgendered children?

No, he’s probably talked with a right-wing nut pediatrician with agenda - not so much to care for transgendered children but to use them as cannon fodder in his culture wars.

Absolutely despicable.

Ugh, assigned to Judge Madeleine Connor, who ran for her current seat against a judge who refused to let her proceed with a lawsuit because she was a vexatious litigant and the case didn’t have merit, and is currently running for a different court because that was the judge who put her on the vexatious litigant list in the first place.

You’ve got to be a real piece of work to get declared as a vexatious litigant in Texas.

Time to start moving those DoD bases out of Tejas. And change the names to honor folks who did NOT commit armed rebellion against the United States, while we’re at it.

It’s not this year’s primary voters he’s pandering to. It’s 2024.

Unless the parents are also a hospital, insurer, or health care provider, it’s not HIPAA.

The state has asked for medical records.

From the parents. Not from a hospital, insurer, or health care provider.

Abbott is a child abuser. The scars of a queer childhood in an unwelcoming community are lifelong. His contribution to hate is currently ruining lives.

I can only wish that he is actually right about God, and I am wrong, so that he can suffer eternal torture.

if you did roast him no one would eat him.

What’s more abusive: letting a minor get gender-affirming surgery, or forcing a transboy to wear a painful binder day in and day out that restricts their breathing, limits the activities they can engage in, and can lead to other long-term health problems, particularly if they are large-chested?

JFC these people are fucking monsters.

To his credit governor Asa Hutchinson actually vetoed some anti-trans legislation in Arkansas last year after consulting with some actual doctors involved in pediatric trans care, and not some loon with a medical degree from a Bible college.

Naturally the legislature overturned the veto.

Well, that goes without saying, but it would be fun to watch.

Abbot, maybe stop being cruel to children and fix the fucking electrical grid. Just throwing that out there from Hays county, TX.

As with, it seems, most Republicans, cruelty is the point. The privacy violation and intrusiveness of this law is revolting. I hope there are legal grounds to fight this since HIPAA does not apply. Tracking menstrual cycles of girls and unmarried women will be next. Kafkaesque in the extreme.
