Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sparked outrage after he responded to a Friday mass shooting by highlighting the immigration status of the five victims – and getting it wrong, too.

Garcia called the police after Oropeza rejected his request. The man shot some more, and now it sounded louder. In the neighborhood of homes on 1-acre lots, Garcia could see the man on his front porch but couldn’t tell what he was doing.
His family continued to called police – five calls in all, Garcia said. Five times the dispatcher assured that help was coming.

Seems like a perfect illustration of “othering” for people who can’t grasp the term. Don’t know who I’m more disgusted with – Abbott or the people who elect him.

How else can Abbott justify not condemning the guns - those people shouldn’t have been here anyway… Pure hatred & politics.

What mental process leads Abbott to lump together the five people murdered in a household of ten people, including the wife and little boy of one of the survivors, as “illegal immigrants”?
Despicable. The people running this state are despicable. It’s hard for me to understand, or forgive, my fellow Texans who vote for them.

The police had been called to his house repeatedly because he had a habit of shooting guns in his yard. Bullets don't respect property lines. Why wasn't he arrested and his guns taken?

In the article the San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers explained that there were only 3 officers covering 700 sq miles. This needs some deeper reporting.
Obviously an area with very few white people and no one of wealth or power - people that don’t really count, you know.
