If we don’t start significantly invest in a constant presence and ground level organization in Texas, this is going to be the norm. No more waiting for magical demographic changes.

When pretty blonde white ladies start dying, then the media will fucking care.

Oh dear, what are left wing political junkies going to wank off to, if they can’t have their magical fix?

The U.S. Supreme Court is responsible for Porsha’s death and Texas politicians aided and abetted it. The Supreme Court of the United States has deemed that women are expendable nonentities. What happened to this family is barbaric and it will get worse before it gets better.

These situations are so horrific I can only read a few lines.

Choices and consequences, I want everyone to see what these GOP politicians have done.

I am grateful that ProPublica is out there and reporting these horrific preventable deaths.

Enraging. And there will be so much more unnecessary suffering under the incoming regime, in this area of life and many others. Ignorance, extremism, greed, and sheer meanness are about to take the wheel, and the best we can hope for is that they run us into a ditch rather than off a cliff. But at least they saved us from the horror of having a black woman in charge! Sick, sick people.

We took a step backwards this year, but trump still drew a smaller percentage of the Texas vote than Mitt Romney got in 2012.

We’re a big fucking ship and it doesn’t turn on a dime.

Something that I haven’t seen reporting on is the cost under these abortion bans. For example:

  1. Have insurance rates for women of child baring age increased?
  2. Did Hope Ngumezi get a bill from Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital?
  3. How will states like Texas and the other states with near total abortion banns handle teaching newly minted OB/GYNs about miscarriages?

Thank you for this article. It is unconscionable that the physicians let this woman die. And all of the anti-abortion zealots are culpable, too.

Even worse. It’s brought by the “pro-life” movement. In the article, there’s an org crowing about vastly reducing abortions performed as “medically necessary” in Texas – bragging about reducing necessary treatment to near nil – and what is its name? The Alliance for Life!!! Life.

So what they really mean by “pro-life” is “pro-death.” Maybe it’s time for a shaming campaign.

It sounds like it would be fairly simple to sue in Texas over the ectopic pregnancies (ban supporters are disavowing what was done there), and those women may have filed their federal complaint as a prelude to that. But I really want some big organization to sue for wrongful death (or something) over the other ones. Get in the ring with them. Does Texas’s concept of states’ rights include a right to kill people? (Death penalty is different.) For being female and capable of conceiving? We could at least find out. It would highlight the hypocrisy at least.

ETA - oh yeah! So when TX wants to escape federal preemption (EMTALA) to kill women, it gets away with it. If there’s a national ban next year, and libby states like mine refuse to go along, will they get away with that? Federal either preempts or it doesn’t…right?

Oh, and their family values are extreme patriarchal family values. That’s what they mean by that one. I guess I’m doing translation these days! Right-wing translation. Oy.

Well the state is killing women who committed no crime. And the bow on top of this shit package is that there will still be a hospital bill to be paid.

On life support, I think. Hard to say. Is it female? And pregnant? Sorry.
