A poll worker in Memphis, Tennessee, was fired last week after turning away early voters who were wearing “Black Lives Matter” and “I Can’t Breathe” shirts, an elections official said Monday.
The North Memphis poll worker had asked at least one early voter on Friday to turn a shirt with a message related to the racial justice movement inside-out…
…Because this is high school?!? And the citizen, voter, needed to have their clothing policed?!
If one stinkin red hat gets any sort of grief at one polling place in the country, you know we’ll hear about it and the person (ahem white male) will be the new Joe the plumber. (While having their vote
Counted, Of course)
I’m scratching my head wondering why anti-fascism was mentioned in this article and also why so awkwardly. It wasn’t long ago the entire country considered itself anti-fascist.
tRumpers have no qualms about destroying democracy and reserving the right to vote for themselves and their ilk. the Chosen One has spoken to them and they can only obey. bleat!
I guess wearing a PP, Greenpeace, WWF, ASPCA, ACLU, Innocence Project, and so forth would be considered inappropriate clothing to wear while voting. But camo is always in style, right?
And it’s another instance of voter fraud instigated by the Republican party! Put that one on the scoreboard, Tom! That makes the current tally Republicans 6241, Democrats 3. It’s a rout!
" Thompson noted that the poll worker had believed the statements were tied to the Democratic Party."
The real question is what happened when the worker was told otherwise. Until that moment, I could see why the worker might be mistaken and confused.
At that point, the worker could be accused of being misinformed with the source of the confusion directly pointed to.
But somehow, since this happened several times, that doesn’t seem to be the story. Surely the worker would have asked for clarification from above when challenged.
No doubt. And for that matter, why are we not referring to the MAGA crowd as pro-fascist? You’d think being Profa would equal terrorism, not the other way around.
It wasn’t too long ago this Antifa terrorist wrote a song even Republicans sing.
I was willing to believe that the poll worker considered it a ‘political statement’ and not allowed. Right up until reading he was schooled several times and still continued to do it. Then it becomes willful ignorance. So he was fired and rightfully so.
