Same for me.

Hmm future breeders? It could be his way of mitigating the “great replacement”.

How he’s currently acting, it’s called “child trafficking.”

That orphanage is under NO requirement to give him ANY children. Even IF he had all the proper paperwork, credentials, transparency, etc. The children are currently under THEIR care. 100%. They owe nothing to Shea or anybody else, except for possibly verified relatives to the children themselves.

He’s trying to strong-arm these people into letting him kidnap them. Which shows exactly how much he cares about the kids. Not at all. They are objects to him, to be indoctrinated into his radical “Christianity.”

Make no mistake. This is the same brand of “christianity” that QAnon
(Eastman, Flynn, Powell) professes, as well as most of the televangelists.

They think that as long as they say they’re doing something “in Christ’s name” then they can literally do whatever they fucking want.

Cheat on an election, kidnap children, whatever…

So all joking aside it should be easy enough to qualify Shea’s claims no? There would have to be a paper trail. Not just in Ukraine but if he were planning to adopt don’t you have to have home visits, social workers, legal documentation for passports etc. And did I miss something but did he state his plans? Does he have homes lined up for these kids? Paperwork? Funding? The whole thing just seems so weird, underhanded and truly frightening. I hope US authorities step in and deal with this. This seems so awful I can’t even engage my snarky humor.

It will definitely be hard to tell them apart, since they’ll all be named OfMatt.

He just shows up with these kids who, at most, are orphans in the past couple of weeks — yet says “adoptive parents are distraught”. WTF???

This stinks to high heaven and beyond.

And definitely, the people we really need to worry about here are a bunch of fundamentalist wingnuts in the U.S., not kids who just left a war zone. This guy is a real piece of work.

You have a point, and the spirit is right, but:

(1) I wouldn’t use “kid” for fetus;
(2) It is important to recognize that Republicans care no more for a fetus than they do for a child or an adult. The “caring” bit is just a pose, though often quite deranged.

If these asshole poseurs actually cared in any principled way, they’d be doing all kinds of things to beef-up healthcare, especially for women who are pregnant. But as everyone knows, Republicans have been working hard – and deviously – for years to undermine healthcare in America.

Has anyone looked into the adoption fees angle? How much are these adoptive parents looking to fork out? I would bet it is not negligible.

Republicans are weirdly drawn to children, and pedophilia:

After Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) tweeted out a lengthy thread accusing Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson of leniency in dealing with sex offenders — particularly those who hurt children — other Republicans are following his lead.

So, Hawley will be going after Gaetz, Gym Jordan, Cheetolini and other Rethuglicans?

Didn’t think so.

Does the US even have an agreement with Ukraine allowing for adoptions?
The state department website says Ukraine is not a signatory to The Hague Adoption convention and that adoptions are not currently allowed.
How were they even expecting to get visas for these kids to come to US without some fraud involved?

Also “devastated”? Living family members of those pretend orphans who are afraid they will never see them again.

Does Matt Shea have a past history of religious extremism or pedophilia?

Adoption is almost always kidnapping. Adoptions promoteed by a man who has advocated murdering me and my family, a man who lives less than a mile from my house, cannot be legitimate.

To me this is a war crime. Kidnapping children while they’re separated from their parents by circumstances, or who have lost their parents and are separated from their families, is human trafficking.

Yes and, so, yes.

I know someone personally who adopted a Ukrainian orphan just before the war began, so I assume there’s something in place.

No way should this freak be allowed to adopt and bring 4 little girls from Poland to the US. Their life won’t be bucolic. Far from it. He’s a scary dude. No Ukrainian court have granted he and his wife any adopted children, so why is he inserting himself without any kind of legal authority and alienating the local officials and the church, people who will be able to testify about his character?

The irony of that. It wouldn’t surprise me because these folks are freaks who are hell bent on destroying America with toxic masculinity, toxic Christianity and toxic Whiteness.
