That would be a tough one. But here is what I can see. Red states pass laws requiring onerous counseling sessions, based on the supposition the challenges inter-racial couples will face if they marry will be extremely dangerous to their well being. And the counselors will have the leeway to report to the state it is their judgment the couple cannot withstand those challenges and the marriage is not advisable.
Sen. Cantwell basically said WA and the Western US is leading on health and science and picking up what the US is dropping. And that’s going to suck for the rest of the country.
Happy ‘National Macadamia Nut Day’ to those who celebrate!

Bill Cassidy gets RFK to agree that Trump should get a Nobel Prize for COVID vaccine, but then asks how that’s consistent with RFK’s statements about the vax. Pretty smart approach.
Actually that’s a pretty obvious question to be asking. The problem is, people consistantly refuse to call these morons out out their stupidity and lies every fucking time.
I am far more cynical. Roberts is within reach of achieving his lifelong goals - disenfranchising POC and handing the keys to the kingdom over to the corporations and the uber rich. He is willing to close his eyes to those things he might not have done in such a crude manner in order to get his project over the line.
China has already won the 21st century and will be the only remaining superpower, probably within our lifetimes. Amurikkka destroyed itself with white supremacy and Christian dominionism.
“Angola, the former Louisiana plantation…”
“Former” plantation? The place has always been a continued slave plantation. They just had to start calling it a prison after that pesky 13th Amendment made it so you had to call slavery something else. It was always used as a way to get slave labor out of some black people, while discouraging uppitiness among the rest. Oh. sure, they would toss in some white trash here and there, because those people are just as exploitable, and also are sometimes in need of a reminder of who holds the whip hand in our society.
You know, if I have to continually correct this site’s vocabulary and usage, you really ought to put me on staff. Unlike Angola inmates, I’m going to expect to be paid for my labor, and to be able to quit if I find the conditions of labor too onerous

Did Wile E. Coyote just make a cameo appearance?
New England is also engaged and working around the CDC.

No. But when he is, Stephen Miller will wake him up with a kiss.
For all that Roberts is, I am not sure if he expected this.
I think the greatest failure of those faced with someone like Trump or Roberts is giving them the benefit of the doubt. If their actions cause immense harm, I fail to see what is accomplished by asserting “Well, yeah, this is very bad, but certainly it wasn’t what they intended”.
If damage is caused, what the hell does it matter what they intended? Go ahead, ask your enemy to dinner. And when he crosses your threshold tell your family “It’s OK, he can keep his knives and guns, there’s no damned way he’s going to use them right here in our dining room. I mean, we cordially invited him into our home, he won’t harm us”.
These effing people give deliberate thought to what they do. If it hurts you, it was their intention.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. misrepresented the country’s compensation program for those who are harmed by vaccines, alleging that it’s biased and corrupt and falsely claiming that a person can't sue a vaccine company "no...

I’d guess that family, friends and neighbors are gonna have to start being killed and disabled by disease before this turns around.
But, we just had a godawful pandemic that killed and disabled family, friends and neighbors and we still have this miserable approval rate for vaccinations.
And I thought things were already bad last week.
You were right, but That Was the Week That Was. Each week sets the standard for the next week. The only real question is how bad do things have to get before we finally see a week that is better than its predecessor.
The damage to US foreign policy cannot be understated. This week’s SCO summit in Tianjin made it clear that China seeks prolongation of the Ukraine war, which can continue for years in a “frozen format” where battle lines barely move. The price for vassal state Russia would be more hydrocarbons and other extracted commodities as well as extensive leasing of land in the Far East Federal District of Russia. Highly expensive for Europe, and only made possible by Trump’s dithering. It is strange how Trumpian and Chinese foreign policy have aligned specifically on Ukraine. Given Russia’s economic precarity at the moment, US Ukraine policy should be full on restoration of the 2013 borders, with economic and security guarantees for Russian speakers in occupied areas. Return of Crimea to Ukraine should also be assumed. Rubio has been inconsistent and all over the map on this.
