The group of Republican candidates and potential candidates for president in 2024 joined together to forcefully condemn and renounce former President Donald Trump after he was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation on Tuesday.
Apparently, the Base (and getting “baser” every day) strongly approves of sexual assault on “uppity” women. Or any women. Don’t want to offend your own voters! I’d like to offer a word of thanks to former Gov Hutchinson. Whatever else he may have done, he’s right on this call.
“I’ve been pretty busy — I know there’s different stuff in the news,” he said.
Nothing is funnier than watching an asshole bully turn tail and run so everyone knows that underneath all the bluster and abuse he’s nothing but a self-loathing bitch.
“Vote for me over Trump because . . . well . . . uh . . . you know . . . I’m not him. And, I think he was a great president and it’s no big deal about . . . uh . . . the stuff in the media I’m ignoring.”
Trump has made it impossible for them to stand up to him since he stole their base which is conditioned to follow the brashest and loudest voice. Something that Trump takes to naturally. So long as the base continues to idolize Trump, they can’t steal the base back because they can’t be bigger assholes than he is without turning the base against them for turning on Trump. And if they act like “beta cucks” around Trump, then the base won’t give them the time of day because Trump is the “alpha.”
They can’t attack him without alienating the base and they can’t suck up to him without undercutting their own justifications for challenging him for the nomination.
ETA: Seriously, if I were any of these people, I’d get right to the point–show the crowds that meme of Trump yelling out the car window with the caption, “Get in, loser.” Then tell the crowd that he is indeed a loser: he lost the popular votes in the last two elections; most of his candidates have lost as well; the kinds of decisions passed down by Trump-appointed judges and the kinds of legislation being passed by hyper-Trump-ized state legislatures are deeply unpopular**. The tell them, Don’t get in the car with losers–especially that loser.
**except, DeSantis can’t afford to push that last one too hard
