Discussion: Irving Police Return Ahmed's Clock Days Before Family To Move To Qatar

Very true, every era has more or less the same issues… my mother stated more than once that in High School in 1913 she knew who had guns, knives, chains, drugs, etc. She would ask what is the difference between 1913 and today, the 24/7 spin cycle.

It was Nazi policy from the very beginning to delegitimize Jews and to both sponsor and carry out violence against Jews. The Nuremberg laws were passed in 1935. Kristallnacht was in 1938. I’ve never heard anyone who lost family in the Holocaust say the bigotry against Muslims in some parts of the US is the same as the state sponsored terror against Jews during the Nazi era. And my guess is that Elie Weisel would recoil at your statement of equivalence. In fact, your assertions are so different from anything I’ve ever heard from Holocaust survivors and their families that I question the veracity of your assertions. The idea that a kid getting hassled in Texas and then getting a personal apology from the US President is in any way equivalent to the Nazi terror against the Jews is just bizarre. And, by the way, I think you have an anger management issue you might want to get checked out.

Those small (even by today’s standards) transistor radios came in handy when I wanted to listen to my beloved Yankees’ many World Series games during high school early 60s. I would put it in my inside dress jacket vest pocket with the ear phone wire running up the arm sleeve and sit in class palm up against my ear, head leaning on it. Never missed a critical pitch, always knew the score that mattered, though I missed a lot of class stuff misguided educators might consider “more important than a baseball game” in that northern NJ county.

Your attempt to rewrite my comment to fit your narrative is a failure. I am not referring to one Muslim boy in Texas and I did not say that the Muslims were being treated just like the Jews in Nazi Germany. Now you write “It was Nazi policy from the very beginning to delegitimize Jews and to both sponsor and carry out violence against Jews,” whereas you were previously referencing genocide in the 1930s. That’s quite a leap backwards. Substitute “Republican” for “Nazi” in your comment above, and “Muslims” for “Jews” and you pretty much have America in 2015. But your inability to recognize the difference between what I said and how you rewrote it makes this discussion pointless. And even more so by your insistence that you know how every family who lost loved ones in the Holocaust would act in the face of a rising tide of bigotry in the US in the 21st century.

And speaking of cheap arguments, your suggestion that anyone who disagrees with you needs anger management is hilarious.

Now that Canadian elections are over and Trudeau won, I am seriously thinking of heading north. We are retired and even 6 months a year would be paradise. Sadly that is the only “new world” that may be open for those of us who feel we are being prosecuted for our lack of religious beliefs, funny how that works when the country was partly founded so that people wouldn’t be prosecuted by religion.

I was generalizing, but you are right we do have many inspiring young people and even teachers if this young man’s teacher was encouraging this kind of exploration. There are many skilled workers also, however the corporate powers are telling us that they need more skilled workers, that is why they must send jobs overseas, while they push for lower and lower standards of education in this country.

Personally I think they are looking for a cheap workforce and if they can gut and cut education they will have that workforce here without the shipping expenses.

There is certainly the offer of money for education which is no small consideration when raising a child who obviously is so intelligent and talented.

I hope he and his family find the peace they so deserve after this kind of trauma.

How can we claim this as the land of the free with that warning hanging over our heads?

You might want to read more carefully, as I used the term “murder”, as well as “genocide”. No murder of the Jews in Nazi Germany in the 1930s? What history books are you reading? Moreover, the genocide encompassed the entire Nazi enterprise of killing the Jews, not just the building of the gas chambers as the last act in their gruesome enterprise. It is an outrage to compare the treatment of Muslims in the US to the Nazi terror.

I must say, however, you did your readers an enormous favor by supporting your arguments by a link to RT. However, you might also try to support your arguments by referencing publications other than “RT”, which is propaganda rag published by Putin’s government, which is a throwback to the Soviet Union. Congrats.

Please feel free to go. No one is standing in your way.

No murder of the Jews in Nazi Germany in the 1930s?

No murders of Muslims in America in the 2010s?

Odd that you choose one link to bray about. Are you unable to see the other two links saying the exact same thing? Or is it just that you’re unable to discredit the other ones as mindlessly? I thought three links were sufficient, but if you’d like more, I can happily oblige.

Take your blinders off. You’re embarrassing yourself. No one would be discussing the genocide of the Jews without the camps and the gas chambers. Twenty million Soviets died in WWII and despite their cities being bombed and besieged, and their citizens being murdered, starved and enslaved, the Nazis’ Eastern front was not an attempt at genocide. The gas chambers in the concentration camps represented a systematic attempt to wipe out an entire ethnic population. But the concerted violence aimed at German Jews in the 30s was not genocide, just racism run amok. Not unlike what Muslims are facing in America today.

Yes, these clowns comparing this to Nazi Germany are no different than Glen Beck types. Same idiocy.

Bottom line, this kid CLEARLY built this as “bait” to get a reaction. That’s why he was non-responsive and combative when questioned, which lead to his arrest (had he not been such a wise ass, he would not have been busted). Keep in mind his father decided to engage the idiots from the Westboro Baptist Church. That tells you something about him, he is Islam’s version of Terry Jones. All for press. Total POS publicity hound. I recall Mark Cuban saying when he talked to the kid on the phone, the kids sister was coaching him on answers. The device was “bait”, and indeed this was staged. Anyone who does not realize this is beyond naive (that’s why he made sure the alarm went off on English class, he wanted to draw attention to it…even though the engineering teacher told him to put it back in his pack and not show anyone …for obvious reasons). And if a white punk did the same thing and was evasive and being a wise ass, he would have been arrested too. Again, that’s why this kid did not bring his fake clock to the White House. Even the kid HIMSELF said he was putting a cable around the case so it would not look suspicious. So, the questions all the media morons NEVER asked him were:

  1. Why did YOU think it looked suspicious without the cable tied around it?
  2. Why did YOU think a cable around it would make it not look suspicious.?

Two EASY question that NO ONE asked him, and they are based on what HE said on video. HE said it was suspicious himself. Yes, HE said that.

Plus, he said he “invented” a clock. Total BS also. He took an existing old Radio Shack clock out if it’s housing, then put it in a case. Wow, what a “genius”. Again, this was “bait”.

There are Middle Eastern kids who are doing things that are light years ahead of what this kid is doing, and they are not getting any press at all because they are not wise asses. In general, there are kids his age doing AMAZING things in science that are getting little press. Yet this kid gets a national story…for taking housing off a clock and sticking in a case, and for being a wise ass. Unreal. And plenty of the “gullible” on here, no different than Glen Beck followers, fell for it. Once again, the BASIC PREMISE of this article, that the police were somehow not allowing him to get his device back, is total BULLSHIT. Totally irresponsible journalism. They basically took what as 14 year old kid said in tweets…and made it "news? Wow. The police told him over a month ago he could pick up his ridiculous “invention” anytime.

It also should be noted that the police are not allowed to release the records of the investigation and interview since Ahmed is a juvenile. However, the parents can demand the release of those records at any time. Why haven’t they? If my kid got busted and I felt it was not warranted, I’d want those records released for sure and I would sue. The parents have not asked that they be released for some reason. Gee, I wonder why?

How the hell is this even a national story?

Thanks. I didn’t have most of this info., including the radio ploy.
And the Westboro Baptist Church? Interesting bedfellows.

Thomas Jefferson: “The price of Liberty is eternal vigilance.” Sorry you didn’t know that. I thought that every educated American learned that in high school history. I assume you are an American citizen. Did you miss class that day?

Yes, as I said, the father of Ahmed is Islam’s Terry Jones. NO different in being an extremist, just different religions. We can do without either type, and to give them press is just absurd.

Actually it has never been shown Jefferson said or wrote that for sure. However it has been used by Frederick Douglas, James Buchanan and William Henry Harrison, among others. Indeed a common phrase among many statesmen.

It goes back to John Philpot Curran’s statement, “The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt.”

Your other link is to a Trotskyite organization! You’ve got to be kidding. I thought I was doing you a favor in only referencing Putin’s very own publication, Russia Today. But if you want me to mention your other great source – The Fourth International Socialist – I’m happy to do so. Feel free to stand by them. Now, I’m also convinced that you didn’t have any family caught up in the Holocaust. And you certainly aren’t Jewish. You’re just a two bit fraud.

Counting to three seems to be beyond your ken. Instead, you’ve reduced yourself to a complete fucking slandering asshole. My family came from Poland – named Morduchowicz. If I’m not Jewish, you’re an intelligent, even-minded poster. And now we know both of those statements are fully false.

http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/12/10/1312341/hate-crimes-against-muslims-remain-near-decade-high/

What’s your complaint with ThinkProgress? Too thinking? Too progressive? Not bigoted enough for you?

What about CNN? Too vanilla?

http://www.newsweek.com/quiet-campaign-violence-against-american-muslims-64443

Newsweek? Too left-wing? Too socialist? What’s your moronic excuse this time?

You’re the kind of idiot who ignores the truth based on preconceived kill-the-messenger bullshit. You can’t debate facts, that’s beyond your ability. You can only slander sources, and ignore the ones you can’t slander. I post three links, just to start, and you’ve dismissed two of them, in two separate posts – oops, what about the third? What about the fourth? What about the fifth? What about the sixth? Apparently you believe everyone is lying because they have some agenda that you oppose. You’re convinced Muslims in America are “plenty safe.” If you even knew a single Muslim, you would likely change your mind, but you’re not interested in that kind of reality. Frankly, the way you argue, I’m stunned you can put two sentences together. You really are a fucking trip.

How the hell is this even a national story?

Because most people aren’t as blind as you. Most people don’t go off on pointless tangents that obscure the basic facts. But that’s your specialty!

I showed with factual info why this story is total BS, the police told him over a month ago to pick up his stupid device. Fact. Your MO seems to be to ignore facts.

The kid was being a wise ass. Fact. He was baiting. Fact. That’s why he got arrested. And if the family does not feel he should have been arrested, they should sue and demand release of all records. They won’t.

All facts. Not rhetoric.

Again, this article is a total lie. The police have NOT said he could not pick up his “device”. This is a flat out lie. They said over a month ago he could have it. How is the whole premise of this article being a LIE a “pointless tangent”? That’s just plain funny. In fact YOU are the one going off on tangents about anti-Muslim stuff, a legit issue…that has NOTHING to do with this SPECIFIC incident. You like to generalize. I stick to specifics of the case. In this case, the family has told numerous lies, and has a history of doing PR stunts. This is a fact. Are you denying that the police said he could have this thing back over a month ago? Because if you are, you are living in a fantasy land like a Glen Beck listener. It’s flat out BS.

It’s Breitbart journalism essentially, Mickey Mouse BS. No different than some Republican saying “Hillary broke the law with her email”…and then running that as a “legit news” story. Total BS. And you fell for it.
