One unreported aspect of increased fires is the reduction in output from solar power, due to increased “cloud” cover.

When the fires really get moving in the arctic we are screwed. None of us will be spared. The great fear everyone who studied climate change is the arctic warms and methane is released in vast quantities. The step right before that methane release is arctic wild fires. Republicans need to woke to the reality. Stuffing money in the pockets of oil billionaires and rogue shieks isn’t doing us any good.

I just finished reading Fire Weather by John Vaillant, which focuses on the Fort McMurray, Alberta fire (2016), but also has a lot of information about the history of the oil industry, recent fires in California, and (most importantly) climate science/global warming.
It is a vital book about a vital subject, written by an excellent author/journalist/story teller. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

When I wants to listen to the science people I goes to the Arctic Sea Ice Blog/ forums.
Yesterday I learned about AMO, the Atlantic Multidecadal Ocillation that was a theory proposed in 1980 and has now been confirmed by 40 years of observation. Confirming a cyclical warming and cooling of the Atlantic Ocean. We are at a peak now.
Today I learned that CH4 does indeed degrade much sooner than CO2. However it degrades to CO2 and water vapor (also a greenhouse gas).

There are a bunch of sleeping ogres out there, and they are really large ogres. We used to discuss them in the abstract as “what if…” Now some are actually appearing. But it doesn’t seem to matter. Godzilla could knock down a city, today, and FOXS would say the way to stop it from happening is to make sure Biden doesn’t get re-elected. I’m not even being snarky. Those people will not accept reality, even when they are being killed by it.
