Border guards got it dead right. I’m guessing they knew the likely result of that response, and gave it anyway. The literal meaning of courage.

I hate war, too. But if any country deserves our help, it’s Ukraine

Wars always have these symbolic targets that become obsessions and must be achieved - and this war is no exception (maybe it is heightened because Putin is such a drama queen propagandist) So… what is the name of the ship that wages this massacre? Make it famous as the murder ship…That ship will be an obsession - the Ukrainians will want to see it destroyed & sunk … that ship can symbolize the ruthless barbaric behavior of Putin.

War, good god y’all, what is it good for?

Kicking Putie’s ass, for one.

It’s too early to tell, but if the Ukraine manages to hold off Russia for another week or so, it’s possible Russia’s ability to maintain a supply line to support their troops might falter. Russia’s overall infrastructure has suffered severely at the hands of their kleptocratic rulers. Sure, they have a huge military, but if they can’t support that military abroad, it won’t be able to function much longer.

That ship that vassaulted Snake Island at some point may want to exit the Black Sea. But the only way out is thru Turkish waters and Turkey is in NATO. Any Russian ship in the Black Sea is stuck there

Asymmetric war is Ukraine’s future. Russia will need to keep troops in country for a long time unless they decide to leave now. And 200,000 will not be enough to subjugate pissed off people.

I guess Zelensky might be safe, I don’t think Ukraine has any Esso stations.

Ukrainians are fighting for their country. The Russians are fighting for what? Putin?
The Russians will most probably win this but at what cost.

Truly inspiring and sobering to see how the Ukraine military and people are fighting to defend their country and protect their democracy (think about that for a minute and consider what is happening here) against this unprovoked, illegal assault by a murderous authoritarian.

Russian warship go fuck yourself indeed, and you, too, Putin.

Stay strong, Ukraine. And let’s hope the rest of the world makes the difficult decisions and moves to give them as much support as possible. Make Putin and his oligarch cabal pay the heaviest of prices.

If the stories are at all genuine, it seems that there is beginning to be - fragmented & from various corners of the world- the beginings of a grassroots “fuck you Putin” movement … another something that the little psycho did not account for… interesting… it quite possibly could blossom into something that could be devastating … depending upon how it unfolds and the image it commands … with the right spin … it becomes like the “image” of Dunkirk … all of those private vessels answering the call to action … or the French Resistance … think of all of the keyboard commandos delighting in FUBARing Vlad into devastation! …
The world delights in seeing a bully meet his demise… and if there was a way to help without getting shot at- there are millions around the world who would help.
If Putin becomes fixed in people’s minds as Satan … that he actually delights in that role … he is going to find his efforts being attacked in so many bizarre ways that he never imagined.

Zelensky said he is in Kyiv with his family. And we should check for Esso stations in Moscow I would think. That’s where the European Mussolini is.

It is no fun being a Pariah among nations and people. I would not want to be a Russian tourist right about now.

I did a bit of research and found this charity that directly supports the Ukrainian army. The linked bank account won’t accept my bank card - some sort of European requirement that my bank doesn’t meet, perhaps. I’ve contacted the charity to see if they accept any other forms of payment.

I found them and others in this USAToday article.

A Ukranian soldier blew up a strategic bridge and himself at the last moment to prevent the Russian tanks from crossing.
This is some serious heroic resolve.
We are all Ukraine now! :ukraine:

Under Erdogan, Turkey seems to be part of NATO in name only. Dictators seem to have a mutual admiration society.
