This is a very important point:

The same thing goes for using easy-to-perform protective measures like using masks in close contact. Those wishing to make political hay of this experience know this, but prefer the simple binary choice to rile up the ignorant or intellectually lazy.

There was more time spent researching and writing this article than the TRump administration has spent actually trying to help make contact tracing a reality - by a factor of 10. I guess it is good to know what we should be doing so we can compare it to the fiasco that is actually happening.
